His car seemed to start having the problem right after he put the i/c pipes and bov on, but im not for sure. It appeared to me that he didnt have a tight fit at the turbo. What kind of i/c pipes do u have nate? I think his car has like 100,000 miles on it.

17-19 Psi from a T-25 with no MBC? Removing the restrictor can get you 2-3+ Psi, but 8?

tru. 17-19 psi on the t-25= BAD. hes overworking that turbo. I would be happy with 9 maybe 10 on a t-25.

yeah, im the one that was spiking to 19, it would settle at 17, i put my restrictor back in and spiked to 17 and settled at 16. That was after intake, catback, upper and lower i/c pipes, and bov.

No matter now, i have my AVCR up and running, set at 1 bar, patiently awaiting my new turbo biggrin.gif

You seriously need to look into a different turbo. Your stock turbo will NOT handle over 15psi reliably, and if you are looking for speed (which I assume you are), a slower spooling, bigger turbo will be the way to go.

If you had no MBC and were hooked directly to the wastegate, you should not be seeing 16 psi. If you were, then your AVC-R couldn't lower it beneath that.

The AVC-R (or any boost controller) can only bleed off boost signal to the wastegate and raise the point at which it opens it. It can not lower it beneath what it will open at with the hose hooked directly to the wastegate actuator.

Having said that, do you have an MBC totaleclipse? You should be able to turn up the boost and see the results on your gauge.

However, I recently had a T25 that physicly would NOT boost above 12psi. I attribute it to 2 things in that case. A leaky BOV (2G plastic POS) and a tired T-25.

I should have a spare T-25 if you are in need but I'd check for boost leaks and the like before throwing parts money at it personally.

I remember that my stock T-25 was pushing 12psi (pretty normal) and then when I removed the BCS restrictor it went up to 15psi, ran like total shit (its getting old). So I can't believe 17 to even 19psi ohmy.gif on the T-2suck is any good. So TotalEclipse97 -- turn your friends boost down if he wants to keep his turbo, and either be happy with your 9psi while the turbo's running well, or take it as a hint to upgrade biggrin.gif will jbweld work on small holes in the IC?

i will emphasize this more: no boost restrictor and no boost controller is BAD. my old 95 talon was runnin 10 psi if i remember right and that was stock (i think) but my 93 gst had no bc and no br and i would get oh like boost spikes ranging from 25-30psi on that old 14b. im surprised it lasted me that long. it finally gave up when i was racing Dan's (i think) old blue TSi that my freind now has.
btw, i did win the race too, in a huge cloud of white smoke.

sorry for the post whore here-

iowa, I think it's spy, i can't remember, who gave me this faq. My IC had a bunch of little holes in the necking area. He recommended some sort of titanium poxy i want to say. Start a thread asking and i'm sure you'll find someone here who knows. Jb might do the trick, i don't know. biggthumpup.gif

yeah somewhere i read the same thing. you clean your intercooler good, then you somehow close off the ends and submerge it in water or something. any air that is escaping is where there is a hole. then you use some sort of stuff to seal the holes and you're done. dont quote me on this, as my memory is sometimes skewed, but i thought i read this somewhere.

thanks for the help guys. i've got 103,xxx miles on the car. it is a stock t-25. it just feels like it's choking when i punch it. like air's leaking or it's just not getting juice.. maybe it's just turbo lag or the ol' turbo's kicking the can.

suggested new set up?

Easiest: T28. From there the choices are endless and it is solely up to you to decide what you need.

I've only seen it twice, but check your cat. Rarely, the brick will break and choke off the exit from the cat, choking power severely.

Well i need to go buy some jbweld anyways, so i might as well try that out. Im not 100% sure i have a hole(s) in the IC, but I'll do that water trick and find out for sure. I suppose I might as well do an intake leak test too. I'll let you know if jbweld does the trick if that's the case
