The pulley on my 1998 2.0 non-turbo started rubbing yesterday. It has started to run into the side of my overflow bottle and the air conditioning lines underneath. My overflow bottle has marks from the top of the pulley digging into it. It has always been a tight fit, but it appears to have gotten worse. It just used to think it was the bottle bracket, but now it is not that. Has anyone else experienced this? I am fearing the worst. Things like messed up motor mount, etc. Just trying to narrow down what to look for. I am going to try and investigate this some more in the next day or so.

to check the motor mounts, have someone stand outside while watching your engine, now revv it up a little and see if the motor moves, well it is going to move but if it looks like it is going to twist in the engine bay then you have yourself a bad motor mount, but if it just flexes then they "should" be fine. but the only real way to tell is to take them out, and if you do that then you might as well put new ones in.

Ummm....it probably seems like every DSM owner (especially 1G owners) like to scream this right away. And I'm sorry for this, but if your talking about your crank pulley (I don't remember what pulley is near the overflow on a 2G) you may have crank walk. That's way worse than an engine mount. To check for it...simply see if you can pry the pulley/shaft in and out of the engine. If you can make it move say 1/4 of an inch then that's your problem.
If it is not your crank pulley then totally disregard this info. -------------------- In Loving memory of David T Crebo

Yeah I heard that too, but I guess I assumed it as still a mitsubishi engine fram that era. Is it a Chrysler engine?

The 2G non-turbo 2 liter is a Chrysler 420A. Same engine they put in the Neons. I know you knew that.

They dont put the 2.0 N/T mitsu engines in the 2G like in the 1G? I assumed that was what they put in the GS package, RS was the 420A motor (1.8 replacement)
