Great night for completely legal contests of speed. Ran around on the local speedway with some pretty decent machines. Turbo cars were well represented, with a Supra TT, 300ZX TT, FC-RX7 Turbo II, WRX STi, and of course, myself. Also along were: 350Z, Stage 1 Saleen S281, S2000, mad tyte Integ, and an SHO. I am serious. One could not have asked for a better night. To the good stuff... I have had an eye out for a certain STi ever since he walked me by 8+ cars from 40-130 in Northwest Zamibia. Tonight, I was looking for him, and found him in the local village hot spot. So out we go, headed for the Autobahn 10+ cars strong. I immediately head for the front of the pack, but with the caliber of some of these cars, it takes a while. The S2000 and other Hondas take an exit and go their own way, leaving what I would consider the "faster" cars to themselves. The Supra was nice, but as a stock auto, pulled on no one. He also refused to fall below 90, knowing that slower speeds were too dangerous for his pride. We grew tired of him, and ducked out, leaving the 300ZX TT, myself, and the STi. With a passenger (owner of b18c1 n2o honda) as ballast, I got by the 300 easy enough, if he was in it or not I don't know, and didn't care. I had another agenda. Pulling up to the STi at about 60, I am in third and he knows what I want. However, he happens to be in the middle of a phone call, so we wait, cruising side by side for what seems like miles. Finally off the phone, he's ready. At 55, we both have a bit left of 2nd, and off we go, I can still hear it. Loud and mean, the Subie jumps about a half-car ahead, and then the unexpected happens. In third, back in boost, we are literally side by side, neither budgeing an inch. I'm already ecstatic, as 2 weeks ago, he was already 2+ cars out and pulling. Reaching 75, I soil myself as I realize... I'm pulling away from him!! Me and my navigator are screaming about how this is really happening, and I just kept pulling. Well, as with everything that is too good to be true, the pulling stopped, and in fourth, he began to close the solid 1 car I had put on him in third. Ever so slightly he crept up, and ever so slightly he passed me, ending up at 120+ with the STi about 1.5 cars ahead. I was floored by the entire event. The pride I felt at that moment was immense, and even though I lost, I felt I had won. Like in the Special Olympics, you know, where if you finish you're a winner. I tried to write this in a fashion that a spy could appreciate, so forgive the length. All in the interest of sharing my near-kill. biggthumpup.gif
