As with most newly installed motors, there is usually a hitch whenever you first get it started. Mine is having problems keeping the oil where it belongs, inside the motor. I have about three leaks that I can see, two of which I'm pretty sure we've got cornered. The first is where the turbo oil drain line hooks to the oil pan; I'm pretty sure it just needs a new gasket. The next is on the oil pump assembly close to the sending unit. Not totally sure of this one but at least we know where it's coming from. This next one is the one I need help with. Oil keeps pooling in the valve cover spark plug galley. It is not pooling in the spark plug openings in the head though so I'm pretty sure it's not the valve cover gasket. The boss on the left side of the valve cover (if you're looking at it under the hood) has been capped by a filter so really the only things are the PCV valve, oil cap, and the two pin sized holes on the outside and inside (from the spark plugs) of the cover over top the exhaust cam. The PCV valve and oil cap have not been replaced yet. I had the same problem with my last DSM. Oil would leak itself onto the valve cover and I could never figure out where it was coming from. Please help, thanks

the valve cover has the main gasket and 4 smaller gaskets that go around each spark plug hole, you might want to consider a valve cover gasket set. advance auto parts has the set from felpro for something like $24, two day delivery.

good luck!!! cool.gif

the valve cover gasket that I'm using is brand new and I already checked the cover for cracks before I had it powdercoated. I haven't yet tried the oil cap though but I'll let you know if that works out.
