tranny hole Options

since ive owned the Z, it has been a little leaky. in fact, you could tell every place ive ever parked. so i got underneath it today and found that there is a very small hole in the transmission right where it bolts up to the engine. it appears to have been broken by something. nevermind how it got there, how do i fix this. this is probably going to be one of those jobs that is jimmy rigged but works. i am leaving for chicago at 3 tomorrow and i have to be at work by 7am, so it needs to be fairly quick. is there some sort of metal epoxy or something that i can seal it with? c'mon guys i know you can do it. let me know. thanks.

Not the best idea here and don't hold me accountable for the results but here it is:

1- JB weld. Get the 5 min version. Clean the surface best you can and JB weld up the hole.

2- Gas tank repair kit. Same type of metal epoxy but it tends to work on areas that are still wet from leaking gas. Same principle.


Neither are the best of ideas but might be enough to get you by for a while. Bring some extra tranny fluid to refill it if it gets low though.

How big is this hole anyways?

turns out that hole is a seap hole of some sort and is intentional. i talked to some Z guys on another site and from the symptoms, it sounds like the rear main seal is leaking. anyone know/estimate how much this would cost to fix? and how long it would take?

as of now, its not burning or doing anything bad, just leaking, so im going to just check the oil a lot and fill it up when its needed. but i go on vacation the first week in august so i need it fixed by then. how long would it take slopny's to do this? thanks. some of the local shops around here take forever to do anything and i dont have forever to get it done, so thats why im leanin toward slopny if possible. let me know, thanks.

Don't know about a z specifically, but a rear main seal is not usually cheap, mainly because it usually involves pulling the tranny out and at least the oil pan off the motor... Not a lot as far as parts, but a killer on labor.

anybody got slopny's number? seems that since getting rid of my dsms i havent had to get ahold of them,
