Am I wrong or does the Eclipse badging go as follows:
RS= 1.8L
GS= 2.0L NA
GS-T= 2.0L TURBO
GSX= 2.0L TURBO AWD

This is what i've been taught for years, but I keep seeing RS Eclipse's for sale, and the sellers are saying that they're 2.0L. blink.gif Reason being, my wife is going to need some wheels, and I've heard that the 1.8 is pretty reliable. I don't know much about them. Do they suffer from crankwalk the way the 2.0 motor does? Just curious.

1G RS- Laser 2.0
GS- Eclipse 2.0
1.8 no badging i believe

2G RS- Eclipse 2.0 420A (Chrysler motor-neons)
GS- " "
GST- Eclipse 2.0 4G63 (mitsu motor)
GSX- " "

1.8s are not fun cars, i have had nothing but problems with mine, underpowered and not very gas effecient, got better with my 2.0 NA

Anyone have recommendations for a reliable import that can be had relatively cheap? And DON'T say honda. That's exactly what crapped out on us. I was thinking of maybe a Mid-90's Celica?

Celicas are nice, i recently rode in one (broken DSM) with a kid that took me home from work, hes got 200k on it and that damn things is such a smooth car, runs great and seriously the kids that have drove it, drove the piss out of it, and they have done no work at all and it runs great, looks like sh1t, but drives nice and runs excellent.

if you are looking for the wife and reliable... my votes out for a toyota corrola... nothing is more dependable... and you can easily put 250,000 miles on those sons of bitches... past two girlfriends have owned them. both with over 250... my dad had an 79 that died in 95 with 500,+ on it....

I have also been looking for something reliable. But I want to buy new with a warranty. The new celicas hold up well? I heard the Corrollas live up to their name, still.

We were looking at the new Celicas, too. I haven't heard anything about them yet, so I don't know if they live up to the mighty Toyota rep. But money's tight right now, so we'll prolly be going with something mid-90s. She really likes that new style with the Celica, though. "It's so sexy" I admit that I get a little happy in the pants when I'm around one, too. biggrin.gif

I'm just pissed that I have to ditch a honda for something else. They aren't suppposed to break. It's only got 120k on it! I guess the little factory "under the hood elve mechanics" have died. ohmy.gif
