Why? Where are you planning to go from here? Please don't tell me you're going to 240-land... Perhaps a DSM? If I had the $cratch, I'd be all over it.

I was serious. Considering the outrageous prices I've seen some modified cars go for recently, I think 10K for something you've been that anal about modifying so precisely is pretty sensible. Also, I don't know what the market is for a used modified honda, so a 10K estimate for a car you talk that much smack about seems reasonable as well.

There is nothing mild about the suspension. Its a stiff ride.

QUOTE (ranta18 @ Jul 27 2004, 04:13 PM) There is nothing mild about the suspension. Its a stiff ride. Well, mild can mean different things depending on the level you're talking about. Take a ride in a car that literally doesn't have enough suspension travel for a pot hole and you might see Benny Z's suspension as a bit more mild. Or compare it to a full drag suspension: FWD: Wheelie bars on the back etc. RWD: No front sway bar, drag launch front, etc. You might see it as a lot more mild when put in that perspective. -------------------- |

The suspension is very well prepped for a street/autocross car. You would be hard pressed to find a Civic that handles as well as this car's current setup. Factor in the new traction bars, and it's also a great setup for drag lauches, too. I do have a front Si sway bar with end links, but it is not currently installed on the car. I don't personally feel it needs it.
I have had veteran autocrossers tell me that the car behaves more like an AWD vehicle than a FWD vehicle. I think you'd be surprised at just how well this car menouvers once you get to know it. I have changed my mind about the $10K asking price. Now asking $10K OBO. I will entertain reasonable offers. I have over $10K invested in parts alone currently on the car. |

Lets get real for just a minute and live in the world of reality. I think you took the comparison a little too far. For a street driven car, I think it rides faily stiff. Obviously its going to feel like a Cadillac compared to a full drag car. Compare it to a regular Civic or any other car off the lot and its a lot stiffer. That was my point. You could say a 11 second street car was fast and then I could come back an say its slow as piss compared to a 7 second drag import. I would be comparing apples to oranges.
Good luck with the sale Ben. You might make out better selling the parts off separate. -------------------- |

You could say a 11 second street car was fast and then I could come back an say its slow as piss compared to a 7 second drag import. I would be comparing apples to oranges. I'm not cure if that was directed at me or not. To explain a bit. A statement like: "There is nothing mild about the suspension. Its a stiff ride" Is a bit of a blanket statement. To me at least, and to a lot of people on here, this implies a barely streetable suspension set-up. Just about anything that can be run daily on the street without real danger of popping the tires or damaging the car is pretty mild IMHO. Now I'm not taking away from the car's handling capabilities when I say that by any means. From what I hear, this little Civic can tear it up on an AutoX course. My point is that the original reference to it being 'mild' was in reference to it being unstreetable and hence up for sale. As for living in the 'world of reality' please explain there. I've been fortunate enough to play a very little bit with suspension that really isn't suitable for the street and hence feel I do have a handle on the line there. Before I get all offended at the post, maybe I should ask for clarification. -------------------- |

Could you guys, by chance, create another thread for suspension tuning woes so that the intent of this thread (that being the car for sale) isn't compromised?

LOL.... Sorry Ben.
KOU - I was just saying I ment it was stiff for a street car. I was comparing it to other cars on the street. You compared it to race cars. A mild street car to me is one with just shocks, springs, and some strut bars. Like I said... apples to oranges. Lets not get too technical about it and start a huge argument about the definition of a "mild" suspension setup. Its all a matter of opinion on what you think a mild suspension for a street car is. We have different opinions. Lets leave it at that before Markus and Ben get too pissed. -------------------- |

http://www.tradinpost.com/htdocs/showpic.a...itle=Stock+Cars
link didn't work. check the automobile index for the "stock car" category. ad is listed there. i decided not to sell it, but not before i called to place the ad. if someone honestly wants it and is willing to pay, i will sell it for the right price. |
