Here's my vote for ya.

EVO 3 16g /w install kit ~750
SAFC ~150-200 used
fullspeed adjustable fuel pressure regulator ~150

Given the right deals that should give you a sweet setup and put you right at a grand. I'll offer up my logger to get you tuned in when the time comes.

The type of turbo you want is going to mean a lot more than whether it is ported or clipped here.

Clipping a turbo isn't generally going to be your best bet anyways as you will lose several points of effieciency trying to squeeze a little more top end out of it. This was mainly done in the days when almost everyone was on 16G and 20G turbos. You should be better off buying the properly sized turbo for your application.

Having said that, the easiest questions are:
How big do you want to go (how much power):
Do you want bolt on or full Garrett?
What's your price range?

We're dealers for turbochargers.com here as well and should be able to get you pretty much any turbo you want below market value. You can PM me for a price quote as well if you want.

Slow Boy Racing has some nice turbo's on the market right now. $900 will get you a direct bolt on SBR-G50 ,G57 or G60-1 .... ranging from 350-450+ hp capabilities. these are internally wastegated or you can go external for $850 but you'd need the ghetto manifold and wastegate. www.slowboyracing.com
