Well, I figure I started the same thread for Slo-Pny day, why not.

What have you done and what will it run?

On my end, I believe I called 13.6, but only got to 13.8.

This time around, I think I'll call 12.99. That way I can get to the 13.2-13.4 range I really expect.

Since Slo-Pny day, I have done the following in preparation for V-Day:

Nitto NT555R Drag radials, 225/50-16 (oooh they hook nicely!)

Coilovers to drop the front end

Solid motor mounts

Had a single-person porting party, porting the manifold, o2 housing, and turbine housing. I highly recommend this to anyone.

Installed TMO Stage 3 ECU

The interior will be gutted

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, whereas last time I only got up to 15 psi and pump gas, I will be heading straight for the 112 and 22-24 psi. If the clutch holds up, I believe I should hit my target time easily, But as I stated before, the strip can be cruel.

I've hear bad things about the 116 they sell at Cordova. Very true. On the other hand, Marcus took almost .7 seconds off his time with the 110 eliminating knock in his stock dd, and his AWD went 12.5x on the 112 and no fuel control. I guess we'll see what happens. I can say that my car loves the 110 they sell at the BP by the river in Pekin. Perhaps I'll just stick with that, because I have had good experience with it already. I'll be looking for anything that will get me even thousandths. I am absolutely maxed out (injectors) at 18 psi on pump gas, and can't get below 10 counts in third. I need all the octane I can get to run no knock and 22-24 psi.

MY Budy was talking about you (i think) he said you are going to weld pipes to your rear suspension to keep it stiff...and you have to drive from your hosue to V-day like that. That is goign to suck biggrin.gif , lol.

You make the most power with the lowest octane without detonation... meaning higher octane will not always make more power unless you take advantage of it by turning up the boost or timing. Bad misunderstanding by most ricers that go get turbo blue in their stock NA engine.

Make sure to bring a spark plug gapper. Kris ran like CRAP last year because they were way off. It ran fine on the 93. He put 116 in and the spark was getting blown out big time. .024"-.032" I'd say. Start at .032" and go down if its blowing out.

Going to the dyno w/ Rizzo in an hour. He should have his car there. If he can get that one wheel spinner to hook it should run some great times. I think he's on 93 octane today, so I'm not sure how much we'll get out of it. Updates to come later.

I don't know if I would do that. Just do the hockey puck mod if you're really ghetto. Or find some hard rubber rings to put over each spring coil.

Actually, Mike, I agree whole heartedly. However, I am maxed out at 18psi on 93 with these injectors. I am simply using the race gas to get more boost AND timing out of the car. Conservative estimates would say that another 5 psi would net me another 35-50 whp, depending on who you ask. I'll be, guessing, around 305-320 whp at that point.

Note: Very few ricers around these parts.

I currently run .028 on NGK 7ES plugs. If I go to 112 and get blowout at 22psi, I'll make sure to bring a couple extra sets and a gapper. Solid advice.

Just to clarify my goal: The quickest I've heard of a 14b, 450, sidemount car around here go is Marcus' 12.5x. The ultimate goal is to come within .3s of that, figuring for holeshot disadvantage. Our cars are set-up very similar with a few exceptions. He had no fuel control, I do, so I can tune where he could just play with boost and octane. In his corner, he ran h2o injection to limit knock. He was 7.8:1 cr, where I am 9:1. By all accounts, I should be able to come close, if the clutch holds. My official pipe-dream goal is 12.8, which is a full second off what I ran a month ago. Does Garner have any slips? What did he run?

Good stuff James. I like to see how some of the local DSM owners are comming together to support your effort. And good luck on making some new records...we need something fresh to compare too. biggthumpup.gif

BTW - Although I wish my best time was a 12.5 it was actually a 12.67. I had a Fidanza flywheel and ACT 2600 clutch, but full AWD weight as well.

Xian: I've thought about going back to an AWD platform, but decided against it. Due to the fact that 95% of the fun I have on the street is impromptu roll-on contests, I prefer the top-end pull to the traction from a dig. Also, I tend to get more races because I am traction limited in an exteme way. And I'd rather replace tires every couple months than a transmission every six.

On a side note, what is the fastest a local FWD has gone? The best I know of is a 13.4 by Josh in his red FWD. Any others?

Spyguy was running hard, with only room to go faster from the nice 12.8s he was pulling. Marcus pulled an amazing 14.5 out of the Saturn of Peoria-provided 2004 ION Redline. Even Motor Trend only got a 14.8!

Tuning gremlins got the best of me for literally 6 hours, she just would not respond to tuning. Found loose ac fittings hitting the back of the knock sensor, causing random knock readings. Fixed, and properly leaned out, I proudly piloted the FWD to a personal best of 13.462 @ 105.5. Problem: 14b is on it's last legs, only pushing 21psi at max mbc setting, and fluctuating 2-3 psi throughout the runs. Faulty bov recirculation tube caused horrible hesitation between shifts, costing around .2s per shift, according to the logger. Riddled with problems, I still got to the high end of my projection. I'm happy.

PS: Drag radials SUCK!!! They improved 60' times by .1s. Honestly, the were easier to launch, but the cold weather put a big damper on my holeshots. They are nice, actually.

I was getting traction in the cold once it warmed up I wasn't don't know what was up with that.

12.72@106 Had to let off at the 1000' mark because my rear broke free, I was not happy.
