my 92 laser AWD sputters when i get on the throttle. it doesn't feel like fuel cut beacuse it will keep trying to accelerate. i data logged and my injector duty spikes at 150% and when i do a pull my throttle position is never 100% according to the logger, it jumps between 75 and 95% when my foot is on the floor. timing is steady at 15 degrees and there is no knock. also i keep throwing a CEL for a few seconds when the car is cold. it will go on for a few seconds and then turn off and do that two or three times and then it turns off for good. i tried reading the code with my data logger and there are no stored or currect codes even when the light is still on.

i tried changing my plugs and wires, different 450cc injectors, turning down the boost from 16psi to 11psi, a different MAF, and retuning with my SAFC and nothing has cured my problem. has anyone ever had this problem before. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

i can do pulls to record any other info if it would help. i am using the MMCd logging software.

the only fuel system change that is done to the car is a 3rd gen RX-7 fuel pump and the SAFC (yeah i know i should have got a translator but i got a hellof a deal on the SAFC).

cooked ecu? It happens.
Bad crank angle sensor?

Id put money on the ecu. Pull it out, open her up and inspect it.

that is a good call. i will try and throw a different ECU in the car as soon as i can find one. does anyone in the B/N area have a 91-94 ECU i can throw in my car?

I posted a couple of times to your thread over on CID before it made it here. Not sure if you've been through those yet.

Glad to see you made it over though to get some more insight! biggthumpup.gif

If you pull the CAS, you might want to mark it's location/orientation prior to removal. That way if you end up putting the original back in, you won't have any guesswork on clocking it timing-wise.

ecu's seem to be the main other weak link on dsm's besides tranny's. They have about a ten year shelf life before they start having issues, and most of the 1g dsm's are hitting that 10-15year mark.

I believe I am on ECU #3 from advance auto parts. Apparently, the age alone will make the rebuilt ECU's go to crap, too. I still am suspicious of this one, too.
