Just when you thought that things were going good. I have been having problems with the car starting this week. I thought that since it was getting colder out (big cold front moving thru the STL this week), the battery was starting to go. When starting the car, it would take a longer time to get it to get going on it's own. The alternator was replaced a couple of months ago and the car never died in traffic. But the battery was old and a little corroded, and, as I saw today, only a 525CCA battery (doesn't ours need around 635?). I went to Autozone and had the battery tested by their "trained" professionals. They said the battery was fine. Okay, then can you test the alternator? Sure. Just start the car. Okay. Go to turn the key and nothing. I gave a quick call to Slo-Pny and asked Brian what he thought. He said the starter could have given out. Really? I never heard any noises from it when it would start (high pitch squealing from the starter). He told me he has seen them freeze up with no warning. So, I called the insurance company and got the car towed out to a place and am waiting to hear word back, probably tomorrow.
