Yeah, I heard about that. I also heard that they may build it in Tazewell County. Peoria refused the casino so E.P. got it. Peoria was going to refuse Hooter's until E.P. said they didn't have a problem with it, maybe something similar will happen with the raceway.

From what I understood from the Journal Star, they have a site picked out and rather welcoming neighbors. One more thing Peoria is going to screw up. That's ok though, Tazwell county is closer for me anyway... biggrin.gif

In today's Journal Star

Peoria does it again. Every time an opportunity comes along for the city, or local community’s we get a bunch of people who cant stand the thought of local development. I'm all for Tazwell county picking up another Peoria fumble.

people wanted to build a track in champaign county in the 80s but the hippies and dumbfuck farmers kept shooting it down. Prime farm land? Half of this fucking country is prime land, which might by why every year there's a fuckign SURPLUS rolleyes.gif

why don't they just build it near Danville. Propery there is dirt cheap (for good reason) and nobody in Danville can read or afford cable anyways, so there wouldn't be any bitching when it came out in the paper and on the news.

Anybody know exactly what kind of track we're talking about here? Oval? Drag? Dirt? Paved? Maybe I missed it in one of the articles...

1/4 mile dragstrip (paved), ~3/8 mile oval (they originally said dirt, then changed the plan to paved), and a roadcourse (paved).
