It seems we all love a good build page, so in light of recent developements, I decided to start my own. This season is sponsored in part by KOU Motorsports, and together we intend to create a respected (feared) vehicle capable of demolishing all local competition, on the track and the street. Lofty goals, but I feel if we are not the fastest, we will be damn close.
The car is well known to most of us. White 1992 GST, ran 13.4 last year on the stock 14b and smic. That was, for all intents and purposes, a completely different car from what will be lurking about this season. For starters, roughly 600lbs will be stripped from the car in order to arrive at a target race weight of 2300lbs. Induction is as yet undecided, we are currently test-fitting a decent sized T3/T4. If that does not put us where we need to be, the term GT35 has been tossed around as an idea. The intercooler is a custom set-up, originally intended to support all the hp a high-pressured RX7 can throw at it. It is an air/water set-up, with a 3 gallon sump, and is fully capable of dropping intake temps below ambient. I will be handling most fabrication at the current time, with help obviously from the boys at KOU. Traction will obviously be a severe issue, and we believe with the right set-up we can put together some seriously competitive 60' times. As the build unfolds, be sure updates will be many, increasing in frequency as the race season approaches. That's all for now, no point in further speculation, as the car is currently in winter street trim. As soon as we dig in, there will be updates, hopefully with pics and a dyno vid or 2. Wish us luck! -------------------- 2009 Scion Tc

QUOTE (spyonu2007 @ Jan 19 2005, 11:03 PM) Good luck. You do realize that awd4kicks, akamiami, natedogg, xian, and asiankid will be handing you your arse at the track? Its a real female dog when I cant talk smak about my own cars... To be honest, I don't consider that talking smack. With the exception of asiankid, who is on a E3-16G/550s set-up, I have no doubt that the beginning of the season will net me many tail-light viewings. But it's all about motivation. Think of the hardware that Nate, Kriss, Marcus, and Xian are running. Those are serious cars, and they will only make me want to go that much faster. We seem to stick together better than most groups, and it would seem like there is more of a team mentality than an "every man for himself" attitude. I love it. If we could cruise around 6 or 7 deep, with tthe SLOWEST car being in the 12s, I think we could do great things for our segment of the game. So I say bring it. Give me everything you've got, because 11s are in plain view, it's just a matter of doing things in the right order and tooning. On the street, I'll be the underdog from a dead stop, on the track, we've got some tricks that I feel will put the ol' fwd in a good spot. But beware when I'm already moving, because this car will be deadly from a roll. Everybody, pick up a wrench and get to work. It's gonna be one hell of a year. -------------------- 2009 Scion Tc

1. car's already pretty well tuned in.
2. already knocking on 11's door. 3. far more intelligent than me. 4. far more experienced than me. 5. better looking. i guess my point was that I'm honored by spy's kind words, but i believe you and kris are in a league of your own, not that my bank account isn't coming after you. I've already bought out the kris piss winter supply. now I know where to get my naws... and i wouldn't count james out. i think he can get 11's. hard working, know how, willing to do what it takes, experience. he will scare people, if he was a little bit taller. -------------------- game over.

he already scares me, but not as much as his freaky real ultimate power ninja brother.
I'd say the only advantages anybody has on anybody else is a headstart. The guys with the faster cars have just been in it for longer and as such, have had more time to spend money and make mistakes. None of us are rolling in dough here, but having 4 years to continually build a dsm is more than enough time to get a 12 second car done. You guys who have just started your projects within the last year or so are definately making faster progress than Nate and I did in our initial attempts. I remember practically wetting myself when I finally had an SAFC to tune with, and here you guys are with 10 second benches already! -------------------- my cars breath smells like car food

and for the record, there's nothing wrong with giving your car a golden shower now and again. It's good for the clear coat, gives it luster.

For the record, there is no way I could afford the hard parts currently associated in the build, and as such, I do not "own" them. I need not discuss details, but we found ways around the capital issue, on both sides. It is amazing what you can accomplish on very little money, it just takes time, effort, experience, and the mistakes of your predecessors to aid in guidance.
I actually considered shooting for the 11s on a 14b w/n2o, but that is way too much trouble, and would probably end up costing more in blown 14b's. The biggest issues I'll face are track time/practice and fabrication. I've gotten damn good at launching my fwd, but traction is obviously a problem. Add 150+ hp and things change drastically, I'll basically have to re-learn how to drive/launch. And since everything I'm running is new or custom, I have to make a new downpipe, exhaust, all intercooler piping, etc. -------------------- 2009 Scion Tc
