This is how it looks now
![]() Here is my ride with the motor out of the car. Looks pretty bare doesnt it? ![]() Here is the lonely 420A on the engine stand. The cylinder walls still have cross hatch marks on them which is a good sign. Although we seem to be having some trouble getting the timing belt gear off the crank. LOL! When inspecting the pistons we found the number 4 piston had 3 cracks on the sidewall. ![]() These are the pics after I got the head back from Bumper to Bumper. I did my own porting (gasket matched basically) on the intake ports. ![]() Here is another shot of the head after I gasket matched the ports. ![]() Now for the bling. I polished the intake manifold, elbows and turbo housing. This will just be the beginning of the polishing probably. We are also looking into modding the intake and making shorter straighter runners. Wont happend if I dont find a donner 420A intake runner. ![]() Hanging here is the valve cover its been cleaned and primered so far. Yes the letters are taped off. When this is done it will be red with polished letters. ![]() Of course you have to have the pile of stuff. Here is my turbo, fuel rail, timing belt cover, exhaust manifold and sensors. ![]() An overview of the area. ![]() CHECK IT OUT! YESSSSSSSSSSS! My lower end parts. ![]() Had to lay it all out too make sure I got everything. LOL! Right Acutally I was so excited I had to take pics. LOL! |

Here are some pics so far of the block and the valve cover all painted and ready to go.
![]() ![]() ![]() Everything is coming together now I just need to put it together and get my fuel system and I will be ready to go. So I sent the motor off to Precision Ok well I got the motor back from Precision Engineering and besides some little set backs everything went rather well. The head looks really nice much better than before. Precision ported the exhaust ports and polished up the intake ports that I did. Come to find out Bumper to Bumper used basically a belt sander (if you will) to surface my head and I had a small ditch near the #4 cylinder so Precision actually milled it .005 Here are the pics of the head with the port job and the motor built. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So tell me what do you think so far? Personally I think its sweet as hell looking. Lets just hope it kicks major booty on the streets! I just got off the phone with Brad from Hahn Racecraft and my Portfueler should be in by next week. |

I didnt paint the head mostly because I like aluminum plus it somewhat gives a theme to the car. I have a red car with silver graphics so the engine should be painted red with aluminum to kind of match the outside. Plus I think it looks more professional and gives a performance look along with show quality.

Looks pretty good, man. That's an awfully tight fit with the turbo and all. Do you have any options available for intercooling? It doesn't look as if with the way your plumbing runs right now, but that would definately be something worth looking into down the road. Congrats!

Agreed, intake temps would drop considerably with an intercooler.

With that setup, you could try a water to air intercooler setup. That with a chip setup for 2 different settings. One for low boost (with little to no really cold water in the cooler) and one for high boost (with ice cold high quality H2O in the cooler) for the track.
Pretty nice setup for a 420a, dude. Good luck with traction, though -------------------- -The original (member) 007. Stop looking at me Spy!!

Actually Im thinking about trying to use the SRT-4 FMIC although its going to be alot of cutting so if I can afford it I may just get one from Hahn Racecraft that fits without modification. Either way Im going to have to custom make my own piping. Im not too worried about traction because this is my daily driver Im just trying to make it a real fun DD. LOL!
