Has anyone seen the new Eclipse in person yet? I saw one in Bloomington with Manufacture plates on it last night! My first thought as I pulled up to the back of it at a stoplight was, "damn I wonder what kinda car that is, it looks nice." Then I noticed the big "Eclipse" across the back.. I'm diggin the new body style. Just wish I was in the my 1st gen turbo to give the driver a blast from the past!! biggthumpup.gif

i saw their signature orange one at chicago auto show, and honestly i think the look will have to grow on me, but then again thats what a thought about the 3g and i still hate those pos sebring looking boxes. i am just disappointed that there is no force induction option, ie supercharged v6. or at least some kind of awd or something. in my eyes the eclipse has brought nothing but disappointment in body style and performance since 91.

i've gotta agree with smrtkd69 on that one. true i agree that i at first hated the 3g....now same with the 4g. i'm just now getting used to the 3gs. i wish they had made this new one with AWD and the guts of an Evo or something like that

yes i agree that the 97-99 gsx's looked nice but in terms of stock spec for spec performance i would take a 91 anyday. the 2gs handling isnt nearly up to par of that of a 1g and strike me as more of a feminine design for interior and exterior. not to mention the 7bolt. crappy stock intercooler piping, etc..

I might be wrong here, but I believe that Chrysler dumped Mitsu. They quit pumping funds into Mitsu motors because the company hasn't turned a profit since around 2000. Chrysler IMO was putting the better part of the design into the DSM back in the day. I think the SRT-4 is testament to their solid engineering and design practices.

The part about Chrysler dumping Mitsubishi is true. Chrysler wanted out because of the recent continuation of decline in sales, and it's not just the Eclipse.

I agree, the SRT-4 is of sound design and performance but, I don't believe that Chrysler had a hand in the design of the 4G63 motor which we all love. To be honest, I wouldn't mind having an SRT-4 in my garage. The only complaints I've got is that it feels like the car stands too high. The roofline feels like it's miles above your head and to me, it makes me feel like the car is a little top heavy. Other than that, it's an awesome car for the price.

I can say another complaint with the SRT-4 is fuel economy. My friend has an '04 with 12,000miles on it and averages 14mpg in the city. On the other hand my '91 AWD Talon has over 100,000 miles and I average 18mpg in the city. I know it depends how the car is driven; etc, but I think an '04 SRT-4 should do better than my old '91 AWD Talon.. biggthumpup.gif
