Wow!!! I just read my novel for the day! That really sucks ass about your experience with them. I had a horrible experience with Sam Lamen in peoria. I even went as far as taking the car back and handed the manager the keys to the car and walked off. I hate it when the dealer tries to **** with us. We are the ones shelling out 20-30k to them. At least give me vaselinebefore giving me the rod job!

It is as Spy states. I think he has that conversation with Troy the tool down word for word. That guy was an ASS! I've dealt with a few car dealers in my day. Some are cocky, some are overly nice, some don't say much at all, but I have never run into one like Troy. He either skipped customer relations training altogether or slept through it. You can rest assured I will never do business with Springfield Obrien after witnessing Spy's horrible experience there.

I'd probably have peed my pants either in the car, the mitsu office, or just on Troy's leg to get them back for beeing such pissers. Yeah, I'm that immature..... and more importantly able to urinate on demand.

I have known Spy for 3 or so years. In that time, I don't think I have seen Spy madder than that. I have seen him upset. Get out of the way if he is mad. When he called yesterday, he was PISSED!! It's possibly a bad thing that this salesman gave his full legal name. There are some things that could happen if Spy wasn't as restrained as he can be. Hopefully, Spy, Brian can do some good things for you. He is a good guy. If memory serves, he was one of Uftring's best salesmen there last year. Good luck with this stuff.

geez spy...that bites about not getting the dream car. don't worry one will pop up for you soon. i'm suprised you and nate didn't take him out on the side of the highway haha.

a little mitsu story of my own.

today 3/16(remember this date) i recieved a letter in the mail from Mitsubishi Champaign Obrien stating that my car (97 Eclipse GST) was on thier "hot list" and they wanted me to trade it in for a "substantial" amount. me, loving my car, was curious and was going to give them a call just to see what kind of offer they'd give me. that was until i read farther down the letter that the deal was only good until Sat. March 12TH!!!!!....4 friggin days after the deal ended...i recieve a letter. i checked the letter head....March 5th is when it was written. i know USPS can be slow sometimes but it sure looks like Obrien forgot to send out some mail on time.

well not as exciting as Spy's but sstill interesting

I think it'd be cool if we all called the dealership, talked to the sales manager and inform Mr. or Ms. Shitstick that we are aware of Spy's plight. Then let them know that neither we nor any of the people we know will ever do business with them because of the actions and attitude of Mr. Vermen. Twenty or so calls like that may get old Coy Troy kicked to the curb. mad.gif mad.gif

I absolutely HATE buying a new car, but have had to do it 3 times in a row. I won't go into all of the stereotypes, but suffice it to say I've had salesmen pulling me out of my car as I try to leave, educated more than my share of them, and bitched at them as well.

spy ... shit ... I'm not shocked. Suprised? Yeah, a bit . Shocked? No.

Sorry you had to put up with this moron. However, if she has <300 miles and her brakes are toast your red flags should be waving as well. Don't touch it without an oil usage conversation with the morons - IN WRITING.

I know you want red. I know it's tough as hell. I respect the hell out of you for walking away.

Timing and everything else wasn't right. It'll happen.

In the meantime, the Spfld Mitsu dealership deserves a shitstorm ... hang in there man.

Most dealers are a pain in the ass!

I get a GM employee discount (my brother is a GM Engineer). So I should be able to walk in to any dealer, get the GM price with no bickering because it listed on the invoce and walk out with my car. Yet half the dealers I walk into, still want to dick around and waste my time. I had one dealer basically hide my trade in behind the building so I couldn't leave....I lit the guy right up in the middle of the show room in front of the rest of the customers.

I would have never had your patience!

I've had bad experiences but nothing that came close to that.

This past fall I was in the market for a new vehicle. I took a look at the 3Gen Eclipses at Obrien Mitsubishi of Normal for a good daily driver. I wanted a V6 5speed with a moon roof. Color didn't make much difference as long as it wasn't the sissy baby blue. The salesman I found myself talking to (don't remember his name) was brand spankin new. Less than a month on the job and probably the nicest guy in the place. He showed me nothing but courtesy and even took the time to look for cars for me even though I didn't find one on the lot that I liked in my price range. We arranged a meeting for later in the week when he'd have a car in the dealership that I might like. I drove straight to Bloomington after work that night full expecting to make a deal. Wrong. I came into the dealership and an eager, sleezy gentleman came up to me asking what I was looking for. I asked for my salesman and he acted as if I'd insulted him for asking for someone else and then mumbled something about how he was in a meeting. I said, well I came to test drive a car he'd thought I'd like. Well what kind of car is it? A '00 Eclipse. Well, I know what car you're talking about it's over here. Ok. I'll take you on a test drive because he's busy. All the while this guy comes off like a bad suit. Sleezy, almost like wheel bearing grease that won't come out of your butthole. I took the car out, made all the usual small talk, and the guy drags me into the dealership, sets the credit application in front of me and informs me that I need to fill it out. Not one to dissapoint, and mostly because I wanted to find out what my credit was like anyway, I filled it out and he goes about making his phone calls. He comes back and acts pissed. He says that I don't even have a credit file and that I'll need a co-signer. Are you stupid? 20 year old kid wanting to buy a $12,000 car. There's not much math to go through to figure that one out. After that, I left and never came back. He even had the ignorance to call me later and ask if I'd found a cosigner yet, like he was going to take the sale away from the original salesman. I informed him that I was no longer interested in dealing with him and if I ever do come back I'd deal with the original salesman stricktly, click.

It seems that there is an underground salesman society for the sleezy, ignorant, and customer service deprived beings out there. And worst of all, they seem to be thriving. Good luck in your dealings, hopefully your next will be better.

BTW, in all honesty, I'd love to sell cars. If there was a manufacturer or a conglomerate or something.

My wife and I are convinced, one day, I'll be sellin' cars. *Laugh*

It won't be in this climate thought, that's for certain.

Sorry to hear about it buddy. Hang in there, you'll find your EVO soon enough. I'll be praying its an '03 with 10000 miles driven by an old lady and you can get it for $10k.

QUOTE (spyonu2007 @ Mar 17 2005, 06:39 AM)
Kazz, what is the oil consumption policy you are refering to?

It's been maintained that if you don't break the car in right (first 500 miles - which this beast apparently is in the MIDDLE of) the car will use oil. I was just alluding to it. I'd want something from them that if there is a certain amount of oil usage per 3-5K miles that they'll redo seals, seats, etc.

I'm just sittin' here concerned that it has 200 miles on it and the brakes are a mess. Don't want ya gettin' burned just cuz it's red and available. *Shrug*

Have ya run the VIN, btw for service history, accidents, etc.? In this case I'd definitely do it. That orange peel comment raised a flag too. I know Mitsu paint's supposed to suck, but ... forewarned is forearmed. If this things been through a meat grinder you should get one hell of a deal. And one reason that pr!ck may have been indifferent about making any money on it is because the dealership has taken it on at a bad price to them to begin with. They know they're not going to make money. In that case don't make their mistake your mistake.

Like I said, I respect the sh!t outta you walkin' away. If the damn thing still stirs your loins get some homework done before you walk back in - apparently the only way that would happen is if they were bendin' over backwards for you anyway. Hit 'em while they're soft.

Just some thoughts, bud.
