my clutch doesnt engage until the pedal is completly flat against the floor, and even then it will grind occasionaly. i have the bracket that attaches to the pedal on the master cylinder backed out all the way. do i need to replace either the master or slave cylinders? how would i know?

Have someone check to see how much the clutch fork moves when you push in the clutch. I think it's supposed to move about 1/2", someone else can probably back me up here. If you're not getting much movement, you could have a bad master or slave or a soft hose.
Check at the bottom of this page: http://www.roadraceengineering.com/clutchandflywheeltech.htm for where the clutch fork should be in the housing, might need to shim it. -------------------- 92 Eagle Talon TSI AWD "The Black Golfball" How fast can a 14B go???

Poor guy, you're going through the same thing I am. I did the washer ball fix, in the middle of replacing both master and slave cylinders, and probably going to have to weld the clutch pedal. Good luck, you're going to need it.

im currently in the process finishing up my pedal weld. I can tell a difference immediatly after i welded it that i took alot of play out of it. I had the assembly on the bench pushing the clutch pedal by hand and before and after the weld and now it feels much more solid now. My problem was my clutch would engage at the floor and grind too. If either of you end up doing this, be careful putting back the clutch safety switch. You can break it very easily if you get crooked at all and its a dealer only part.
