i was at the Y today and i see this guy hop out of a very nice looking (well kept) rx-7. this wasmy first time this close to one and it was super cool. he hadn't done anything to it but keep it nice.

i struck up a conversation with this fellow who informed me he purchased the vehicle about 10years ago and he's babied it ever since. he also informed me it's a mechanic's nightmare and it only gets 12mpg...i was taken aback by this fact. although not familiar with the rx-7's traits...i belived it to have a better mile/gal ratio.

anyways...i asked if he knew any others in town with the same car. he belives he's the last in C-U to own one....he said there were 3 that he knew of and that one got wrecked and theother guy moved.

anyone else seen any rx-7's around lately? dying breed?

I know of two(one red, one black) in town myself, neither of which are that guy. Sounds like he needs to get out more.

They are known for being gas pigs. I don't know about 12mpg though.

I assume we're talking 93-95 FDs here. He may appreciate it just fine, I could see 12mpg in town as being normal. There's a black 5spd one in town that can run low 13's, it has an exhaust, downpipe, boost controller, and a few other minor mods. The red one I know of is a low mileage 5-spd that's all stock, and now that I think about it there's a black automatic one also.
