A certain guy and I each had our first DSMs. Me with my 92 GST red auto, him with his navy blue 92 GSX 5spd, cruising down main street in Bloomington. Caught a nice red and stopped at the line together, side by side. Red turns green and we're off together. 60-70-80, slow down, pull into the gas station to quench the thirst of the beast. A white sedan adorned with cherries and blueberries hung high pulls in quickly. The driver speaks quickly, his exact words, "You guys were flying! What do you have in those things!? If I would have had my radar on you both would be going to jail tonight." And then he speeds off into the night as the other guy and I grin from ear to ear.

my 2 fav things were going to ohio with darryl, susan, and amos for the dsm shoot out a couple years in a row and hangin out with them for a weekend watching some awesome races and getting a great tan and going to route 66 and camping at the track with the loud mexicans partying right next to our tent .....

There was also a few years ago when we would all get together to meet at a "secret" racing place and the cops were already there biggthumpup.gif

oh oh oh and driving spy's shamou in the willow knolls parking lot.

Gawd I'm getting old lol

good times, good times lmfao laugh.gif

Back in the day my gsx was black.... Nate asked if he could launch it because he was used to driving his fwd...

I remember that car..... oh thats right.... I still have it

My first DSM memory was driving on Pioneer Parkway when Spy and Marcus spotted me and followed me into my apartment complex parking lot.
Spy walks up to me (at this time, I had never heard of DSMcentral) and says "thats my old car".
At that time, I thought he was just some jack-off that used to have one like mine and was trying to make a substandard attempt at making friends.
Then he starts talking about specifics about the car, that unless owning before, or having an intimate relationship with the car, he wouldn't have known.

That was a great day, I logged onto DSMcentral 2 Days later and my life was forever changed.

Thanks Spy and Marcus for stopping me that day.

with-out that, I would probably still be trying to figure out why cheap plug wires don't work on a DSM.

That has to be one of the best times I've ever had at the track, even if it got rained out!

I still miss my 93 GSX dearly. Clean, fast, and fun... biggthumpup.gif

Oh good thread! Way too many memories to list, but here are a few:

Kris144 and I meeting up with ChiTownDSM and caravaning to Norwalk OH, where Kris ran 100+ with a pack of DSM's by a cop acting like he never seen him. Also replacing his transfer case in a McDonalds Parking lot there on Kris' car.

Meeting up with the first DSMCentral group down at Bradley park early in the spring ...way cold. We ended up going to Cruisins to warm up.

Taking spy out after we first met in the Talon and blasting through the gears in the rain. That's when I found out what a nervous rider the spy was. wink.gif

Wiping out a 16G FWD owned by SloPny and an RX7 by Image on Ol' Gena road.

Our DSMCentral anniversary party at the Galena Rd. Slo Pny.

Blowing my engine racing up hill in 5th gear trying to stay ahead of Shamoo throught the 1 mile race.

Beating Super16G's way sweet 2G 3 times in a row at the Farm meet. Having him get pretty pissed of and leaving and then calling later saying everything was cool.

Blowing up my junk yard motor at Cordova's Midnight Mayhem and still beating a Firebird and Mustang after the fact, before I drove the Talon home and back and forth to work for the next three weeks.

And far too manny 180 U-turns to chase down loud Domestic with Spy, too many times barely stopping in time and of corse Nate's great tuning help and warnings...'Your at 40counts of Knock Marcus!'

there have been a ton of good times due to this group!! I know I don't "own" a dsm anymore and at the time I did own dsms it was a pretty big headache having them, but the good times from them are much more memorable than the bad.

I was a 19 year sassy kid who thought she knew everything when I joined this group, now I'm a 24 year old mom who's learning that a person could never possibly begin to know everything..... kinda weird to stop and think about that. Amazing to me that "core" group has pretty much been the same over the past 5-6 years..... who would have thunk it lol

another fav memory is everyone going to the comedy club with everyone for my 21st birthday and going out "cruising" afterwards..... happy.gif

I remember repeatedly beating Kicks in the maroon monster and Spy in Shamou from a roll in the old maroon fwd...and then remember repeatedly losing to them from a stop. biggrin.gif

I remember riding with miami when he checked his suspension integrity on the edge of a curb.

I remember when Spy's constant statement was
QUOTE
"Shamou was sub stock with a faulty boost control selinoid. (racing you at 7psi)...."
everytime he lost.

I also remember when Spy had Shamou running, he always wanted to race from a stop to 160 mph. When he had the FFGST running, he always wanted to race from a roll to 160 mph. Convenient.

I also remember driving the length of Rte. 116 at 6000 RPM in 2nd gear next to Spy because I wasn't going to upshift and let Spy play his damn dirty trick on me again. You know the one where Spy provokes his opponent, opponent bites, Spy doesn't bite back, Spy waits for his opponent to get bored and upshift into a normal fuel efficient cruising gear, and then suddenly decides its time to bite.

Or there's the one where Spy comes from 10 miles behind you at full throttle and comes by you at 250 mph and writes up a huge kill story on the internet. Is that technical racing procedure considered a dutch run, or just a ricer flyby?

I remember meeting the group at Avanti's and everyone being shocked I had a 1.8.

I remember AWD donuts in the snow in a certain parking lot with Shamou and Kicks, watching the curb and signs come really close to shamou, and watching the flames come out of the Kick's tailpipe as he bounced off the rev-limiter doing the donuts.

I remember the day Shamou died trying to follow the Focus a la Togue style around the corner entrance to JBone's EP road race circuit.

I remember Kicks in his Talon and Spy in his CBR600 racing side by side, the talon drifting right after launching at a turn; and Spy with the Spy tuck-and-roll

I remember walking on Mustangs in my Talon over McCluggage on separate nights in one week. The last victim ended up getting an exhaust on the very next day because of me biggthumpup.gif

Who needs memories...Spy & Natedogg are still going at it over who's side of the story is more true! laugh.gif In all reality, Natedoggs FWD pulled on me from a roll more times than I cared to admit. But measured races have starting and finish lines and he made the switch to AWD. He has been one of the quickest DSM's in the area ever since.

In the day I was actually using Natedoggs FWD as the base to measure my AWD's rolling performance. Finally one night when I was too loaded to drive Spy was in the driver seat of my Talon and Natedogg beside us on a roll. The AWD was ahead and Natedogg said he was pulling ever so slightly, but in my mind I was happy that I finally made the little 14b AWD as tough from a roll as it was from the redline launch. The sad part was Natedogg lost his motor that night if I remember correctly.

Supa16 you have never been as respected as when you called to say everything cool after the Farm meet! biggthumpup.gif

Earlier that year I needed to pickup shamou... I was at USCC, and had left her there... Still owned what is now Bens GSX... We lined up, him in the vr4, me in the gsx and I yelled over to floor it and side step the clutch... I did, he didnt... Im sure he was thinking fragged tranny etc, I wish he would of done it... would of been a good race.

If you get Shamou running we can still make that happen, only NOW the GSX has a GOOD driver behind the wheel cool.gif

Yeah, a cracked intake cam sprocket. Bent all my intake valves. I've never heard of it happening to another DSM besides my old fwd. Go figure! rolleyes.gif
