Yesterday I bought some couplers from the Mitsubishi store....I mean Menards for my 144 intake since the old ones were rotting out. Now, I thought about installing it today but therein lies a problem. Where do the stock vaccum canister lines go to once you install the intake? There are no ports for them and I'm not sure if I'd like to eliminate them just yet (whatever the black canister does). Can someone shed some light on the subject for me?

Thanks

Okay, did some research on the black canister and found that it's the charcoal canister for fuel vapors (emissions) so now the question of the day is, how do I get rid of it (enough to run my new intake?

I just left the hose from the charcoal canister dangle towards the pavement. Haven't had any bad side effects.

I haven't got around to eliminating the extra vacume lines.

I did the complete vac removal on my 92. You can disconnect the charcoal canister line without any side affects. I plugged mine with a large screw and tucked it behind the can, then just stuck a breather filter on the valve cover to get rid of both lines. Worked perfect! Ran better once i took all my vac lines off of the car actually.
