The K&N that came in my car doesn't seem to hold it's oil. I'll clean it, oil it and in a month it looses it red color like all the oil is gone. The K&N's I have in my other car keep their red tint no matter how dirty they get. I'm worried it's not filtering correctly anymore. Any body have a similiar experience?

I looked into it, you need a receipt. Don't have one.

I emailed K&N yesterday, to see what they say.

I didn't buy it, Darryl put it on the car when he owned it...that would be 2 owners ago.

The guy I bought it of off works with us and I know him pretty well. I also know he didn't do anything to the car when he owned it. I pretty positive he never cleaned/oiled the filter when he had it. I wonder if the neglect just killed the filter...

if they won't take it back without a receipt, just go buy a new one and hold on to the receipt for awhile and return it in a few months or so biggthumpup.gif

I K&N recommends every 50k. I usually clean mine about 3 times a year, 15-20k a year. I live out in the country and get a lot of dirt and bugs.

See here for instructions: http://www.knfilters.com/clningins.htm

You by a Recharger kit which contains a spray cleaner and the proper oil to spray on the filter. Spray the cleaner on, let sit for 10min and rinse the filter out with a hose. Let it dry in the sun, spray the oil on the filter until it doesn't show any white spots. Pretty easy.
