I live here in Illinois, and I was wanting to know if we had someone near the capitol that repairs ECU? I would even be willing to drive to get these repaired. As I have 2 of them and the one in my car is on it's way out.

There may be someone on the board here that you could mail the ECU to & have them repair it. The shipping cost would probably be about equal to having to drive somewhere.

I would do that as well. If you know how to repair an ECU post up. Or you could just pm me with a price. And I will get back to you. I just don't want to send this to California. I did that with my vans ECU and it came back worse than when I sent it.

Interesting in the fact that most of us here understand what the other members specialize in to suppliment the car habbit and we try not to encroch on that. It's ultimately the customers decision so there is no huge debate, just an interesting turn of events.

I've replaced my own caps as well. I probably will not spend my time doing it again though.

Maybe we should start a thread listing everyone's habit supporting specialty?

Sorry, didn't know I was stepping on anybodies toes. I no longer will provide any "service" as it may hurt people's feelings and/or business.

There's no need for not supplying 'Any' service. That makes it sound as though your feelings got hurt. We all just help support our car habit and the group as a whole with whatever we can specialize in.

We're open with our feelings here. Feel free to chime in if you want. LOL, jk. Things here are pretty laid back. Feel free to make jokes and have a good time as long as it doesn't get waaayyy out of hand.

Well we got one fixed yesterday. And it was the worste one out of the two. When we had it apart, He showed me where my caps leaked pretty bad. But not bad enough to ruin it. I'm still having alot of idle surge on cold start. It's running the car like a raped ape when warmed up. I don't know maybe this ECU is bad, shit!

EDIT: 2 of my wheel speed sensors for my ABS are bad could this cause the idle surge? And it don't come right down to 750 rpm when I push my clutch in at a stop. It will leanger around 1100 rpm and then die down to 750 rpm. Just to clarify on some other things going on that could be caused by the ECU.

Also check out your egr valve and housing for leaks. I had one there, and I got the same irratic, loping idle. The vfaq has more info on this.
