My first impression of the GT35R is HOLY CRAP! Linear power delivery through the low to mid range RPM's, then an explosion of high boost IC pipe popping power from the mid to upper RPM range. Definitely the fastest my car has ever been if the old buttometer knows anything.

Now...onto the whole IC pipe popping part. The GT35R has a 2.5" compressor outlet. My Charged Air Systems IC kit came with 2.25" lower IC pipes. Nobody makes a 90 degree bend that transitions from 2.5" to 2.25". Trust me I looked everywhere. This left me with 4 options:

A. Have turbohoses.com or hosetechniques.com custom make me a 2.5" to 2.25" 90 degree bend. Good inexpensive solution but it takes time. Time that I don't have to get to Vicary Day.

B. Buy a straight 2.5 to 2.25 transition for the pipe to IC connection (yes the IC has a 2.25" piece welded to it) and fab up 2.5" lower IC pipes. Another good fairly inexpensive solution, but again it takes time that I don't have.

C. Buy a new FMIC. I know I"m going to need one for this monster turbo anyway. Very expensive solution, also takes time for the performance company to do any fab work that they need to do for the IC and kit.

D. Put a 2.25" spacer in the 2.5" 90 degree bend that I already have and torque the hell out of the T-bolt clamp past the bead on the pipe. Suggested by Mr. miami. I thought it was a great idea. I had all the parts I needed already so it didn't cost me a dime or any wasted time.

So I go wit choice numba D. biggrin.gif Needless to say, no matta how hod I clamp dat fooker down on dere, she doan wanna stay at terty psi a boost. Sooo Vicary Day is a no for me tomorrow. sad.gif Thanks for nuttin Miami! ...Just messin with ya bud.

Only question now is, what choice to go with other than D. Silly me is probably going to go the expensive route and get a new, larger FMIC. wacko.gif

is this on the EVO or the talon.

BTW... good write up of events, too bad the solution didn't work out for ya, but at least with the larger IC, you might get it ready by SCDC.

I am assuming on the Talon. Get a bigger front mount ya wuss! tongue.gif One that looks like a card table, about the thickness of an oak tree, and cools better than an industrial size freezer!

use the pipe to make the transition rather than the coupler. you can get a transition pipe from any autozone, even in their limited exhaust section. You'll need to have it welded on to the stock piping, but that shouldn't be too expensive.

I actually thought of that and couldn't find a 2.5" to 2.25" pipe transition at the EP Autozone. I'll admit that's the only place I checked though. I might look into it further.

DAMN!! mad.gif I mean......... great. Good for you! wink.gif
Hope all goes well with your welds. I'm glad you were able to find a much cheaper route to fixing that poblem. I'm just bummed about the front mount. sad.gif Maybe I should get another car before buying parts for it.

Let us know how it turns out.

Yeah, I looked there. They sell straight 2.5" to 2.25" transitions but not 90 degree 2.5" to 2.25" transitions. I actually like http://www.turbohoses.com and http://www.hosetechniques.com . They both have better selections and on some items better prices than any DSM vendor that I've seen.
