I few months ago I started a DSM club but yet to make it public. I have a few members so far and if they are reading this then help me out with gathering more members. The name of the club is ...BOOSTED4GRACING... . The vinyls received upon entry look as follows:
dsm tuners of central Illinois
...BOOSTED4GRACING...
most members have cut it in half and put one line on top of their windshield and one line on bottom or back. My name is Travis Kinney and I recently bought a 91 mitsu eclipse AWD. I am currently in the process of ordering a JDM 4G63T motor and doing a few things to the car. One member most of you might know is Adam Lee, he has a 90 Plymouth laser turbo with a few upgrades and a 2nd place win on one of the friday fun nights up in Cordova. His car among others is in the club but we are seeking more members to make the club one of the biggest around. I just recently talked to the president ( Jim Wike ) of the LAST BLAST ( CUSTOM AND CLASSIC CAR AND TRUCK SHOW), and he wants me to do my best and gain members so the two clubs can join together and hold some of the biggest car shows around. Current sponsors for his club are:
advanced auto parts
Spence Wiker (Green Chevrolet)
Bob lindsay Honda
Wal*Mart
Goodfield State Bank
Naramore's Exhaust
Born Paint
the Chrome Shack II
Lumberyard Suppliers[/B] This list could probably grow alot larger with the help of our club. Anyone who is interested in joining what could become one of the biggest car clubs around can give me a call at 1-309-241-3547 anytime after 5p.m. . Or email me at treydawgnjlo@hotmail.com
Once the club starts to grow we might even try to hold races at Cordova Dragway park and give away cash and prizes for that event also.

thanks.

The more the merrier.

Just so you know Travis. DSMCentral has over 500 members right now from all over the country and I hold two drag events with small cash prizes up at Cordova each year for all the local race enthusiasts. We don't have sponsorships or huge local numbers, but having you local DSM owners join with us can only help.

Thanks!
Marcus

I know that dsm central is a huge club and maybe boosted4gracing and dsm central could combine to become one. I also planned on not making the club like a boot camp having certain times and weekly events. The only rule I would inforce is that once your a member, you install upgrades on your car once or twice a month. This way there isn't anyone joining just to be in a club, but to keep the import/car scene growing throughout central Illinois or anywhere. I am a serious car enthusiast and Im trying create something so everyone with the car scene in their blood can hang out and do something that everyone likes. As far as having drunk people acting stupid and trying to race, that is the type of thing that get you KICKED OUT.

The whole "mandatory upgrade" think seems kind of bogus. It's not fair to assume that everyone has the time/money to perform a couple of upgrades every month. I don't think you have to be constantly adding things to your car to be considered an enthusiast; it's more of a mindset of doing the most you can with what you have.

I'm not dogging on your club or anything, but you may want to reconsider that idea. It would make many valuable people not want to join. I do like your attitude towards the club being a viable, useful part of the community.

agreed, expecting someone to constantly upgrade something every month is pushing it....

I'd like to consider myself an enthusiast and my car has many upgrades, but i've definately gone more than a month without upgrading anything.....

Upgrading every month is alot to ask....

Sometimes it's hard to keep them running every month! biggrin.gif

Alot of the time its upgrade, tune for a while, upgrade etc.

It sounded like a great idea until the upgrade thing came up. I couldn't do it, I barely have enough cash flow to keep it going. And a girlfriend that is so tight, you couldn't pry money out of with the jaws of life. biggrin.gif

Well I guess it isnt that important to upgrade every month but I would just like to see the members of the club keep their cars looking and running good. I know that dsms are notorious for breaking down, so I guess as long as your car has some upgrades and is always running, that would be fine. Also there is no cost for joining, just the cost of your window decal. Although I would like to have all the members names, numbers, and info about there cars. I have printed out a list for that which can be filled out as we have car shows( get togethers ) and at events like at the track. We can also use this site to talk back and forth to each other as we are know.

Is this mainly for car shows and the like then? If so you know we may be able to make a dedicated section on the board for this activity and all the functions.

PM me with more details.

Dsm's are like jeeps at least 1g's are... Functional, but not very pretty. Though there are a few that are very very nice...

Not saying anything bad about anybodys ride but yes most dsms are not the best looking. Although if the engine is pretty than that would make up for its appearance.

The only reason I bring up the car show idea is to figure some way to bring the two clubs together. DSMCentral has never put any energy into car shows and that is about the only thing mentioned that we don't already do.

DSMCentral is all about local get togethers, hanging out, passing modification information around, and of corse racing together. And this is sufficient for me.
If there is something else needed to help DSMCentral meet our needs, just let me know. biggthumpup.gif

BTW - JEEPS are Freakin HOT! In a mechanical, macho over the top kinda way.

I've seen only one 1g DSM that could ever be considered a show car, and maybe a handful that are clean enough to be "pretty cars." Most are downright ugly, faded paint, a bit of rust, etc. But 12 and 13 second slips are worth far more than shiny paint. And your constant upgrade thing is suspect. Some of the nicest cars on this site get upgraded very seldom, because they are already great cars.
