I was just wondering if anyone has ever ordered the 1g rebuild kit from slowboy racing. I am thinking of ordering it and just wondering if anyone has gotten one before. Any info will help.

I would think that the rebuild kits are all the same for the 14b. If they are, they're pretty easy to deal with.

I thought he was refering to a motor rebuild kit.

I've had luck with the Top Line kits from Mach V, but there are certain things that are always better to just go OEM mitsu from the get go... Headgasket, timing belt, water pump, etc...

Have you ever had experience rebuilding any type of motor before?

I was talking about the motor rebuild kit. I have never actually rebuilt a motor but I have had them pretty much apart and back together. I have a 2g motor that is taken apart right now. Everything that comes in the kit is OE quality. i think top line is the name of this kit also.

All I can say is, Good Luck! I've had motors apart too but I still wouldn't trust myself to get all the clearances and precise measurements correct without someone standing over me. Especially not if I were doing it in my own garage and not in a machine shop. There's a lot more to it than just putting everything back in the right place.

I watched my own motor being rebuilt and I still wouldn't attempt one on my own.

You've gotta start somewhere. The 4g63t is the first motor I ever rebuilt and it lasted almost 3 years on various turbos and rev limits, last of which ran for over a year at 30+ psi and 9000 RPM redline. Just take your time and do it right.

Actually when i did mine it really wasnt that bad. If you can remember how you took it apart and you can read its pretty simple. I also bought the kit from Mach V. Its well worth the money.

My dad who has been a mechanic for twenty years is going to be there also, so I shouldnt have much troubles. Thanks for all the advice and Ill will be ordering soon. Im not rebuilding a 2g, I just have one laying around. Im actually taking the motor out of my 91 awd and putting it in my 2g eclipse. Ive got the list of all the parts I will need from vfaq.com and should go down in a month or so.
