IMHO, that intercooler is too small for the route I'm going (ball bearing 50 trim). Though, it's probably just right for the 16G turbos.

Rob, I believe you'll need a bigger one than that too if you're going to be putting the 9b's on.

9b's are stock, I've got 13g's.... biggrin.gif

I think the evo FMIC is quite a bit bigger than the two stock side mounts, and even bigger than two DSM side mounts.... plus it'd look really cool sitting in the front grill... biggthumpup.gif

ok guys... I have the FMIC physically mounted to the car and the piping coming off of the sides of the intercooler going back toward the rear.... now all I need is the piping that goes from the IC outlet to the UICP and the piping that goes from the turbo outlet to the IC inlet

where would my best bet be???

got to get this done soon so that I can get this thing sold

BTW.... that intercooler is fricken huge!!!! biggrin.gif

Probably have to go with a custom piping setup. I dont' know of anyone that sells the piping for an EVO 8 cooler on a DSM. JC Whitney, I think Jegs, Summit, all sell pre-bent mandrel exhaust piping that would work. You just have to figure what you need and how many couplers to order.

could I just go to the local parts store and use exhaust piping peices that they sell there and just clamp the hell out of the pipes so they don't leak???

it did look like I was putting together a giant 3D puzzel today as I was trying fit the different peices of IC plumbing that I have together... I have peices from the EVO and the peices that I got from the GSX.... wierd... only like two peices will work out of the several that I have laying around

Well, yes and no Ben. The ones at the local autoparts store are usually pressbent and I know you. You want to do it up right and make it look good. If you're going to spend the time and energy, you might as well do it right. Get mandrel bent piping. It's also a good idea to find someone with a pipe expander or someone who can weld. That way you can expand or weld a bead around the end of the pipe. Intercooler pipes don't like to stay together without that bead, ask Natedogg.

Actually, I had a bead on the pipe that kept blowing, it was the stacked silcone couplers that didn't want to hold the pressure.

I just seen aluminum piping and I was hooked. I really don't know what the average price is for these things. I would have bought some no matter what, LOL. and then I would probly find some two days after I ordered them, LOL.

hey guys..... today I have finally finished the FMIC install on the GSX.... I have installed the front bumper as well.... the bumper re-inforcement bar went in well after I trimmed the bar... I now have about 1/2 an inch clearance between the FMIC and the re-enforcement bar.

tomorrow the car leaves my garage by flat bed tow to go to the shop that is custom bending my lower IC piping.

I will keep you all informed

Ben
