Is there something that can be done to the rear end on a DSM that will make it run a quicker 1/4 mile?
I was told that the rear end in my car had some work done to it, what I don't know. I can't get that answer out of anyone in Iowa. So if any of you know what can be done to a rear end let me know. So I have some clue to what might have been done. Thanks guys! -------------------- |

never heard of such a thing. I guess if you were able to swap out the gears, but being AWD you'd have to do it to the front also. I've never heard of anyone that sells gears for the DSM's though.....

Only thing I can think is a 3-bolt being upgraded to a 4-bolt, but if you are talking about your 2G, its a 4-bolt anyway.

QUOTE Also the rear diff in this car has some work done to it. I kinda thought that. I always thought they had to be like a matched gear so it wouldn't burn up the transfer case or rear end. -------------------- |

Could have been something as simple as replacing a grenaded diff. That would qualify as work. Sucks that you have to sift through confusing information and what appears to be half-truths from the seller.

This is just as much my fault as it is the sellers. But I am willing to keep working on it and slave through the troubles. As this is more my fault for not looking the car over better, and me making a hasty decision. I like the body style of the 2G with the 1G performance. But as it stands now I am going to be spending alot of time, energy, and money on this project. I should have asked more questions!

One thing that people always seem to forget when they buy a dsm of any kind...
they're old going fast is fun, but no one should expect to buy one of these cars and not have at least some problems with it. Part of the reason I like the cavi so much... 14,000 miles, zero repair costs! -------------------- The fastest car I own is a minivan....
