I am retarded:

Or rather my timing is (well probably both). OK, instructions on the Zex Nitrous kit reccomend retarding the timing by two degrees. What I'm wondering is, since the ECU has the ability to pull timing all by itself, shouldn't it automaticly retard as necessary all on its own? Also, am I going to be running around with my timing pulled 99% of the time realizing poorer performance just for the rare time that I'm on the juice?

Mainly wondering for arguements sake here. Figuring it's probably best to play it safe and follow the instructions to the letter here, especially at first. So if they say 'turn around 3 times in place before entering the vehicle' I probably would. Still, I do kind of wonder...

I wouldn't. I think that instruction applies mainly to cars that don't have a knock sensor. If it detects knock when you shoot the juice it will pull back the timing on its own. Just make sure you're logging it the first few times you use the juice.

BTW - The MAFT has an aux fuel adj. that is activated by energizing an aux. wire that you can connect to your nitrous system. This can richen up the mixture during nitrous injection to avoid running lean. The aux adj. is simply added (or subtracted if that's the way you adjust it) from the WOT adj. Marcus uses this adj. for his water injection system.

Darn! Score another one for that pesky MAFT. Getting harder and harder for me to come up with rationalizations against making the switch.
