As most of you know I destroyed my 12 second 14b turbo a couple weeks ago. This past weekend I had accumulated two used 14b's to swap into the old Talon. Many things ensued, but due to lack of tiem and room I can only summarize.

During the removal process I found the problem with my original turbo. It actually turned out to be my Cat-back being clogged-up. Yeah, I found the trubine and half it's shaft and a bushing stuck in the exhaust piping! dry.gif The other half of the shaft was in the down pipe. All three items made a nice set of metal expanding tracks through my fabricated O2 housing along with a couple of holes! The compressor side of the turbo consisted of a loose turbine wheel and 'The' nut for the turbo shaft siting in my intake piping. Interesting to say the least.

I messaged the fabricated O2 housing with Josh's help and welding expertise. I then installed the used 14b he had offer to me. I got done with the install by about 6PM Saturday and made a brief showing at the Shopco car show. Three of us made some spirited cruises through the area that night and all seemed fairly well except for an exhaust rattling on the car and a bit of turbo 'whirring' noises. The 34mm waste gate I installed in the turbine housing was holding the boost down great though! Sadly on my way home I ran through the gears one last time only to hit what felt like fuel cut. Upon the suddent loss of power I could see tiny sparks flying out behind the car. The next day I found that I had no more than 1psi of boost no matter what, and my turbo was pumping oil out like a refinery.

So back in the shop I went with the blessing of a second turbo to try from KOU. After draining about a quart of oil out of the side mount and getting everything buttoned back up I felt the power of a potential 12 second turbo again! YEAH! biggrin.gif This thing feels good, tight, and powerfull. Thanks KOU!

Now here's my current plan. I want to get up to Cordova this coming Friday night to see if I have a chance for improving my 14b quarter mile time. Is anyone else interested?

To do this right I want to dyno tune with race gas and the best night for this will be Tuesday night. So I need to find 112+ octane race gas (Darryl?) and set up an appointment at R&T's tuesday morning for later that day. Are you up for logging these sessions Nate? I'd Also like some Video documenting if your available Spy. Thursday I hope to get a lower intercooler pipe welded together by Josh and do a final once over.

Again, If all goes well at the Track Friday I plan on making another trip very soon, but only after a DSMCentral weight removal party so we can aim for Phil Beers 14b quarter mile record.

Wish me luck!
Marcus

Marcus,

Have you checked the schedule for Cordova? Looks like there's a big motorcyle race this weekend (starting Friday night). Might want to verify they are still doing T&T this Friday.

Yep, you're right Rob. That's what I just got on to post about.

I'm all set to do the dyno tun for tonight. But here are the options for the drag strip trip.

This Firday, Saturday or Sunday at US41 in Indiana - About the same distance as Cordova
Next Tuesday at Route 66 in Joliet.
The following Wednesday or Friday at Cordova.

Although I don't like US41 as much, I may try for that Friday or Saturday nights.

Marcus

Cordova is hella far for me, but I'll definately try to show up if you end up going to either Route 66 or US 41.

I can do this Friday or Saturday. Saturday would probably be better. Can't do it the weekend after next though.

I'm off Thurs and Fri this week. Let me know what I can do to help. Had another thought too. Not sure what all you've been doing as far as ice packs on the intake, etc. to cool down between runs but have you considered spraying down the intercooler with N20 ?

I've got a bottle already filled if you want to borrow it. Don't worry, I'm not suggesting running a 50 shot or anything. But spraying the intercooler down just before a run should help lower intake temps significantly.
