What do you do when you get to the line? I figured maybe this thread would help some of us that haven't had much experience at the strip.
Me? The first time I was there I redlighted off the line because I wasn't holding the brake on. Second time I came to the line and held the e-brake on slightly, just enough to keep the car from rolling. So, it goes like so: roll up to the light, stage, clutch-in, e-brake slightly on, bring the rev's up and wait. Now, because of this I had to simultaneously release the e-brake and let out on the clutch. This year I've got a 2-step so that makes the throttle a little easier to manage. Any secrets you can share about trying to keep the car from rolling through the lights would be beneficial. -------------------- "I hear he tunes the space shuttle also...and that thing is fast"

I am interested as well.
I had the problem of releasing the clutch at launch. Everytime I dropped the clutch it would fall to 1500 rpms. Now my thought is, I was unconciously lifting on the throttle. So on my last run I made sure I didn't lift on the throttle, But I burnt my clutch up. I was also launching at 4500-5000 rpms. -------------------- |

I was also trying to launch around 5000 rpm but it was actually more around 6000 rpm when I released. It's just too inaccurate trying to release/press three different things at once.

I have never had any problems (yet anyway) with rolling at the line......here is how I go about it....once I get close to the line I keep my foot on the brake and very slightly let the clutch out to the friction point so that the car barely moves without jumping at all, and since my foot is still covering the brake I can move the car without building any momentum....once I am staged I stay on the brake until there is no movement out of the car what-so-ever like you normally get when you stop your car........with your car at complete rest the track should be level enough so that you don't roll anywhere so that you can take your foot off of the brake......that has always worked for me.......plus I like to be the first one to stage so that I have more time for my car to come to rest so that all I have to worry about is the clutch and gas.............don't know if this makes any sense to you at all but is sounds right in my head........btw I usually launch at 6500-7k

if you need your foot on the brake your car has issues. I have NEVER put my foot on the brake at the strip. I just blip the throttle up to the RPM I want , slip the clutch out until it starts to grab, floor the gas and dump the clutch simultaneously and I launch great, or get a shitload of tirespin.

I've never had to use the brake at the stip either... must not have a big enough exaust tip...
![]() I typically rev the car up and down slightly, and try to make sure my foot is coming down as the light goes green, pop the clutch and away we go! This way the revs are already climing as the clutch engages... It's been a while since I've been to the track though. -------------------- The fastest car I own is a minivan....
