QUOTE (AWD DSM 1 @ May 25 2006, 10:00 AM) DSM's are 4123 I belive... That's the coil plug wire order, but I don't think that necessarily translates to firing order. I don't think you'd want to fire 1 right after 4 and 3 right after 2 since they are two strokes away from each other. (cyl 1 on compression when cyl 4 is on exhaust, vice versa, same with cyl 2 and cyl 3.) If cyl 1 is the theoretical first to fire, the next should be cyl 2 or cyl 3, whichever one is on the compression stroke rather than the exhaust stroke. Then cyl 4 should fire, then either 2 or 3 (whichever one hasn't fired yet). If I had to guess, I'd say the firing order is 1-3-4-2 or 4-2-1-3. |

I thought that since there are only 2 coils, they fired 1 and 4, and 2 and 3 at the same time. And yes, this would mean that one cylinder would fire on the exhaust stroke. I think you can actually swap the plug wires around and the car will still run fine.
I assumed Kazz was trying to install some plug wires. -------------------- The fastest car I own is a minivan....

Strictly an educational opportunity. And, frankly, it looks like we all can take advantage of it ...

I had always been told it was 1342. Like Nate said, it would have to be one of those two combonations.

When I think of firing order, I think in terms of combustion since combustion is only happening in one cylinder at a time, but to each his own. |

And are they numbered 1 thru 4 left to right? right to left? (Evo vs. others, here, of course)

#1 is typically the closest to the timing belt, or "front" of the motor.
