Guys
I picked up a pretty clean 1G Talon ES that, I believe, has a bad auto tranny. The car runs perfect, but when you shift it into D, it starts going, and then shifts into 2nd, but then never shifts out of 2nd. I havent given this issue any thought yet, but I figured while I'm bored at work, I'll throw the idea out if anyone has any suggestions. Worst case scenario I need to replace the tranny. I noticed a seller on here has an AWD Auto tranny out of a 93 GSX for sale, and I remember back a few years ago when I owned a 92 AWD Auto. It needed a tranny, and I found a FWD auto tranny, and popped the casing off of it, only to find there's a hole normaly where the output shaft would be. I then pulled the output shaft out of the broken tranny, and put it into the hole I found. Voila everything worked perfect. Could I do the reverse procedure here w/luck? I would probably try swapping in a new TCU before a trans swap. Sounds like maybe the solenoids aren't actuating 3rd and OD.
I have no idea about the AWD vs. FWD though. I've never had an auto trans that far apart. -------------------- "I hear he tunes the space shuttle also...and that thing is fast"

I'm leaning towards something mechanically wrong with the tranny, because he said before it shifted into all gears, the trans just made odd noises, then they swapped in this entirely different trans, and from the get-go it wouldnt shift past 2nd....
