sure, the car should come with a head with cams etc but bad valves............

so I guess all it really needs is valves and the lifters etc could be swapped over

I have a 6bolt turbo head that I'll sell you for $150. Its the same as an NA head except for the cams. Comes with all the lifters and rockers...and cams if you want them. The cams are bit rusty.

I wouldn't buy a used timing belt if I were you.

so besides the rusty cams the head is ready to bolt on? no leaky valve seals etc?

I wouldnt buy a used timing belt either! they dont last long enough as is! ph34r.gif

I bought the head about a year ago from AWD DSM 1 and its been sitting in my garage ever since. I remember double checking it (right after purchasing and removing the cams) by spraying brake cleaner in the combustion chambers. The cleaner did not leak through to the intake or exhaust ports, so I know the valves are in good shape. I can't say whether the seals will leak oil or not as I've never personally run this head on a car. AWD DSM 1 might be able to give you more information on it if he remembers...

I assume that the reason you need a head and timing belt is that the engine jumped time. Make sure you check the pistons for any gouges or scratches. If the scratches are significant enough, you may need pistons as well.

Make sure while doing this job you replace the tensioner as well. I would reccomend some ARP head studs and the Mitsu 4-layer headgasket if you're staying mostly stock.

too many parts bought and sold to remeber that one nate... laugh.gif Personally, I'd have it checked at a machine shop. More than likely it will need a quick resurfacing.... 99% of any used one you buy will need resurfaced from my experiences.
