Looks like a knock sensor to me. Back of the block between cylinders 2&3. There should be a threaded plug back there that you thread it into.
EDIT: After looking at it more carefully, it could be an oil pressure sender. -------------------- "I hear he tunes the space shuttle also...and that thing is fast"

IS that below the starter just above the oil pan or behind the bracket that bolts to the block and the intake manifold next to the starter?

The knock sensor bolts to the block behind the bracket for the intake manifold next to the starter.
