can you get the ball joints out of the control arm? i heard you cant but i see them for sale. also can i use a steering rack off a turbo car in a non turbo car? i put a turbo motor in a non turbo car and was wondering if i could swap the racks. it gets real squirly when i get on it. its a first gen. thanks

yes you can replace the balljoints, but dont ask mitsu, they will tell you ya need to buy the whole control arm.

as far as the rack goes.. it depends on what kind of driving you will do. autocrossers generally wanna swap to an na manual rack because the power steering is a problem in that type of racing. the reason it is a problem is because in the higher rpms the power assist decreases. so given that autocrossing is low speed but gets into higher rpm, it becomes a problem because your steering feel will change. it is however great for road courses

You can either take the control arm off and use a press or beat on that sucker til your arm quits. I heard taking a torch to the ball joint can help.

Brent, also check this site out. Has a fix for that cutout which may be what you're getting.

I'm sure he'll be wanting the PS rack as he's not much of an avid autox'er. So are they the same racks between turbo and non?

i have a power rack that i will give you if you want to come pull it. i do not have the pump or lines though
