14b (ported exhaust -- meaning where the turbo bolts to the manifold) It boosted up to 10lbs then holds but at 4000 to 4500 RPM at WOT the damn thing boost up to 20 to 23 lbs. OK the AVCR is not the problem. I have the line connected from the nipple on the jpipe to the wastegate. Yes I did a boost leak test and fixed all the leaks and the wastegate rod moves about 1/2in at about 13 lbs. With turbo on the car and the O2housing on the turbo. Took the turbo off and everthing looks fine. I am using a 2g 02 housing as well. My exhaust setup is a 3in downpipe to a 3/ 1/2 test pipe to the 4 in oulet. Also the exhaust side of the turbo has a white powder or film on it. Thought it maybe coolant leak Ran alittle bit of air thur the water lines and it does not leak air into the exhaust side. Any help would be great. Clutch is still giving me some problems but on thing at a time.
Thanks |

Sounds to me like boost creep. Not sure as to how to fix that one as you've already done the bigger exhaust. Maybe some of the other guys will have a suggestion.

Porting out the wastegate and installing a larger flapper would fix the creep.

When I last had the Talon running, I had it directly hooked up from J-pipe to the wastegate. I would get about 7-9lbs immediately but then a split second later, it would peg 18lbs. So yes, it's possible to creep 10lbs due to little or no porting on the exhaust side.
If money is not a problem right now, I'd go for an EVO 16G or if that's out of your range, try putting a 7cm exhaust housing with a bigger flapper on that 14B. You'll get a little more out of her and still have little to no creep -------------------- "I hear he tunes the space shuttle also...and that thing is fast"

I've still got the exhaust housing that kicks used for his 12.6 runs, if you want to just swap the housings around... it's been ported such that it may very well get rid of your problem.

with my old MBC I had about 5 psi of creep... with the kris 144 MBC I have completely eliminated creep... the trick is the hole drilled in the side of the MBC housing.

I was going to mention the MBC - if it disassembles and can be inspected it's worth a shot.

I do not have a MBC. I am using a AVCR. But right now I have the wastegate hooked up to the jpipe. So the car should be running under stock boost.

MBC or not it doesn't matter right now. He can't prevent it from creeping even when it's directly hooked to the wastegate. -------------------- "I hear he tunes the space shuttle also...and that thing is fast"

JACK POT!!! I just have never heard of 10lbs of creep. I have band aided the problem for the time being by adjusting my BOV so it leaks at 10lbs.

QUOTE I'd use a hand pump to check your actuator if possible hook a pressure guage in parallel with it so you know at what pressure your actuator is... actuating. Like I said in the other thread, check your actuator. There could be a leak in the diaphragm causing the actuator to not fully open your wastegate. Also, in the future, please refrain from starting multiple threads about the same topic. |

I did check the actuator. Also this is a diferent thread. The other one was about the AVCR. That is not the problem. People are more likely to view and read a thread on over boosting than one about a AVCR.

Ahh, missed the part in your original post about the rod moving with 13psi. Sorry about that.
I see where you are coming from, but in the future please ask a moderator to change the title of your thread if the topic has changed. As of right now both threads are essentially about overboosting. Its not a big deal, but we like to keep one thread per topic. That way it keeps us from having to merge two threads if both follow the same path on the same topic. |

I hear ya! I will let you guys know the status as we look into this alittle more. I think I might over work the turbo with doing the BOV band aid. But all signs are pointing to a different turbo but I was not planning on that until the spring.
