ok guys here we go....
after the winter operation of the cyclone intake to gain bottom end torque and turbo spool up....also while under the knife I swapped out the timing belt and tensioner.... I went to fire up the eclipse... it spit and sputtered and won't run worth a shit.... I have a misfire, but can't figure out why. here are the specs. compression 135 across the board spark on all 4 - yes injectors (550's) 2.4 - 2.5 ohms B+ voltage at both side of the injector connectors 6.5K , 5.5K, 4.5K, 3.5K ohms on the 4 spark plug wires from longest to shortest respectively so I have spark, fuel, compression.... all that is left is timing right???? after the timing belt job I spun the motor over by hand 6 times and every rotation I checked the timing marks and they were right on. what is left???? -------------------- You CAN sleep in your car, but your CAN NOT race your house!!!

I also fixed the CAS wire that got snagged during the intake install.... thought that would fix it, but no..... still misfiring

Any chance the gas is bad after sitting all winter? How does it smell?
Does it misfire at all RPM's, even low RPM? -------------------- In Loving memory of David T Crebo

it misfires at all RPM's
the iridium plugs have come out a year ago or so and BPR7ES NGK's went back in.... I did pull them and they were severely carboned up, I cleaned them up with the mini sand blaster at work and re-installed them.... no change.... after speaking with NCgalant I will be doing a boost leak test (important due to draw through MAF... BTW.... MAF data shows extremely high..... 120 Hz at idle and over 200 Hz at 1800-2000 RPM -------------------- You CAN sleep in your car, but your CAN NOT race your house!!!

if the cam gears have the dowels in the 12 o clock position and the timing marks lined up.... shouldn't the crank pulley have it's mark lined up with the "0" mark on the timing mark on the timing belt cover..... cause mine is 180 off of that...... if that is the case my engine is 180 out and that is a damn good reason for my problems....
I think I was looking at the wrong timing marks on the cam gears when I originally did the timing belt job.... the kid that helped me with the job told me that we needed to have the other set together on the gears.... the book is telling me differently, if I am reading it correctly -------------------- You CAN sleep in your car, but your CAN NOT race your house!!!

BTW.... boost leak revealed a massive leak at the coupler just up from where the stock side mount sat..... resealed that leak and good to go with boost leaks.... still misfired.... after that, I checked the timing marks like I said above^^.

Well problem resolved....
I thought the timing was off, but I just had the crank pulley 180 out, not the timing.... after re-installing the timing belt..... time to move on to boost leak tests again..... I must have misread the first boost test as I was dumping all of my boost out of two massive cracks in the intake manifold.... I was also leaking from the previously sealed coupler and at the coupler at the inlet for my FMIC. with all of these boost leaks sealed off and the intake manifold swapped over... I fired her up and damn it.... runns better but still misfired.... plug wires cross she was running on two cylinders.... but better than it was with the boost leaks. fixed that and still had a misfire..... so I took it out and filled the tank with fresh BP 93 octane and threw some boost at it to see if I could clean up the plugs that were getting gas soaked and carbon fouled throughout this whole ordeal.... no dice.... still misfired, so I limped her home and pulled the plugs, 2, 3 & 4 cleaned up quite well under my boost runs, but 1 wasn't looking like it was firing at all..... so in went a fresh set of plugs and how bout that.... she runs like a champ now.... a huge thanks going out to NC Galant for all of your help this weekend..... I wouldn't be this far with out you. Thanks, Ben -------------------- You CAN sleep in your car, but your CAN NOT race your house!!!
