On the way to a 5 star Italian Restaurant (Read Avanti's), I decide to take a fun run at the track. Lo and behold, there is spy, just finishing up his test and tune session. I am asked if I would like to take a crack at his shiny red FWD pony slayer. Knowing my little anemic Zetec motor will get stomped by the 14b snail stuck onto the block of his car, I decide that if you don't take risks, then get off the road, and say sure. Lining up to the pre-stage, I am told he will launch from 2nd. Okay. Then Stage...Green. I ease out of the launch not wanting to lose any more traction on the FWD. I notice that over my shoulder, spy has not been paying attention to the tree. Must have seen a cute spectator in the stands. I gain a 1/2 car length ahead when I bang 2nd. I look to my left first and do NOT hear the asthmatic cry of his 4G63T. What? I look in my mirror and see a red flame of a car starting to ignite behind me 1- 3 car lengths as I nail 3rd with a subtle grind, damn synchros. Then I cross the finish just as the Laser would have anihilated me. Whew. Wait...WOW!! I won! No way?! I later find out that the red rocket had started in 1ST! I still have trouble believing this myself. We exit the track and head on out to the Bistro where I left this cute little girl with "tendonidis" my number. Win one, lose one. oh well.
Good times.
