I got this from DSMtalk...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't have flow rates of the 2G MAF because the guy who did these experiments couldn't get the 2G MAF I lent him to work. But for what it's worth you can see how hacking effects the effective flow rate of the 1G MAF. He's comparing the stock 1G MAF to a fully hacked with flapper door (mod'd) to a fully hacked with no flapper (fully hacked = whole lower section gone).

Credit to Martin Q. of the Canadian DSM Club for the following:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The 3 conditions of MAF are:
- cut (a la Mike J -removed lower tube and bored it right out)
- mod'd (a la Mike J -with flapper door)
- stock (yes, it's possible to put it back together)
The 4 flow rates were created by:
- hair dryer on 'cool-low' setting
- hair dryer on 'cool-high' setting
- 12A vaccum with hose
- 12A vaccum motor direct to intake
The MAF was wired to a power supply and a frequency counter.
... as unscientific as it may sound, i got reliable/repeatable results. All results were averaged from at least 3 trials.
| Low | High | Vaccum | V Motor |
----+-----+-----+------+-------|
Stock | 167 | 230 | 293 | 815 |
----+-----+-----+------+-------|
Mod'd | 145 | 201 | 265 | 600 |
----+-----+-----+------+-------|
Cut | 116 | 155 | 205 | 554 |
-------------------------------'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So I don't know where the 2G MAF starts to hit MAF overrun but using these figures fully hacking the 1G MAF will result in about 0.68 of the airflow reading of the stock 1G MAF at the same amount of actual air entering. So if you were starting to hit MAF overrun at 2100 Hz on the stock MAF you can fully hack it which would reduce the airflow to about 1430. That would leave you room to increase the airflow up to 2100 again which calculates to about 3000 unhacked Hz.

Anyone know where the 2G MAF starts to overrun? You must factor in that it counts 20% less air then the 1G to see things on an even keel.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd be interested in doing the same experiment on a 2G MAS. All that's need is a frequency counter and a power supply. I have a Fluke DMM that will count frequency, but I don't have a power supply and I don't have a 2G MAS. Anyone? I do have a hacked 1G MAS to compare. And of course I have a shopvac and a blow dryer.
