I haven't EVER ridden in anything rediculously fast.

I mean back in the day I would have been elated to own a 13 second car while dreaming of a 12 second car and holding guys with 11 second street cars in the highest regard.

These days the lines seemed to haved blured between 12 to 11 second cars being the norm and only superior funded machines going any faster.

With that said... no I haven't. Have you?

I agree that in our minds the time for 500HP cars being the elite is over. However, I'm not sure if they actually ever were and we are just now noticing it. It seems that the 'Elite' folks with cars this powerful are relatively low key. I don't know any of them personally, but I know I don't see them out touting their superiority except in the rare race story passed down the grape vine. That's pretty cool in my book.

And even though I know 500HP may not be THE fastest, I do know that anything in that range is more than a handfull and fun as fauk to drive! I'll enjoy mine for what it is. I don't think I could afford to hang with the guys at that level nor am I sure I want to dance with that level of danger on the street. (I would, given a no strings attached chance. But I'm not paying the entry fee.) wink.gif

Its very easy to get good mileage given the ability to tune it.

I am seeing 30+mpg in the Z on highway trips. Granted it doesnt do near that driving in the city.....but I usually am driving like a fool smile.gif

took a ride in dr. penn's supra last night.....absolutely insane. The thing is downright scary fast.

Then drove his evo, but after the supra nothing felt even remotely quick anymore....guess i should've saved the supra for last smile.gif

Lately, it's nice to have the '93 back out again... though it doesn't perform as expected (do they ever??), I'm stoked to have it actually moving under it's own power again. Looks as though it's a low 10/high 9 car on the motor... was hoping for something that would run solidly in the 9's on motor alone, but I can work on that over the winter months. For now, I will concentrate on getting a healthy dose of nitrous oxide crammed into it for some, hopefully by the end of the year, mid/low 9 sec rips... doubt I'll see any 8 sec hits this year between working full time again and how the car performs without nitrous.

But none of that compares to something that makes stupid power..... and gets driven on the street!! Insane, crazy (in a very good way, naturally).

Hah, good to see input from a guy with a car of your caliber Ryan.

I have a hard time believing that a car like Dr. Pen's Supra would get to the end of the quarter mile before an 8 to 9 second drag car. I think generally (<--Key word) the difference between an insanely powerful street car and a drag car, is the drag cars ability to deliver the power to the ground without having to be at a highway roll.

They are both very cool, but there is a usable limit of power on the street. It's a blurry line depending on drivers, cars and conditions, and ahhh... who cares. More POWER ROCKS! laugh.gif

agreed, penn's supra is absolutely useless through the first 2 gears. I doubt it would put down insane 1/4 mile times (especially considering it's on regular street tires) but once it hooks it's gone. For fun on the highway lined it up with the evo starting in 3rd gear, before i was ready to grab 4th he was already way more than a bus length out and pulling harder and harder.
