Hey all. i've got a 1st gen manifold setup on my eclipse. can i directly bolt on a 16g without any additional mods?
i'm currently running a 14b i've got 550 injectors right now. will i need to go to bigger or can i still be ok with 550s? i've already got upgraded air intake (w/ k&N filter), 1g bov, and an manual boost controller. any insight would be nice -------------------- it's not a dsm unless it's leaking something

I know that you can directly bolt said 16g to the manifold. I do believe bigger injectors would help. I know an upgraded fuel pump and/ or rewire will definitely be necessary.

Manifold is an exact fit. There have been many DSM owners that have run a 16g on 550 injectors. Some without additional fuel control. Like Jbone suggested, just make sure that you have an upgraded fuel pump and wiring to support the injectors.

I currently run an EVO III 16G... the install was really easy....
also I am currently running 550 injectors (pretty much minimum for the 16G) I am running a walbro 255 pump with rewire, not sure if it is required for a 16G, but the extra fuel is always better than pushing a lean condition... the pump usually requires AFPR, but I have been able to get away with-out it for tuning I am running an SAFC II, but I do not believe that you need to do that for a 16G. if you need aditional advise, let me know. -------------------- You CAN sleep in your car, but your CAN NOT race your house!!!

I've got a 255 Walbro pump already installed (no rewire though) and i do have a fuel management system...its one of those manual ones under the hood connected to a 2.5" GM MAFT -------------------- it's not a dsm unless it's leaking something

good luck with your setup!!! when I first upgraded my turbo (E3 16G) and injectors (550's), I did all of my tuning (with much help from NCgalant) by one of those translators, hooked up to a 3" GM MAF (draw through setup).... hard to do, but it worked.... better tuning comes with an SAFC II or better tuning modules.

I've been considerin upgrading also.
I've been following some thread on Tuners on the Ebay turbos. Sounds like you taking a chance on the cheap Ebay turbo, some people have had good luck. But a lot have self destructed. The main bearings seem to be the problem. They don't use standard MHI rebuild kits, although I think Garrett bushing fit and are better quality. The going rate I found for a real Mitsu 16g was in the $500-600 range. -------------------- 92 Eagle Talon TSI AWD "The Black Golfball" How fast can a 14B go???

Another possilbility is buy one used. You are taking a chance but I picked up an evo 16g for 300 shipped. Got the turbo and everything was in good shape so I can't complain.

This is going on the old 2.4lter? Are you sure the evo 3 16g is the right turbo for that engine? Seems like I heard something about it being too small at some point. didn't that motor like a certain frank 3 ???? -------------------- ┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐

I picked my EVO III 16G up in a group buy with KOU in 3 back in the day.... it was new for like $450 and still running strong..... not sure on current prices though. and I do believe that NCGalant's 2.4 did run on a frank 3 -------------------- You CAN sleep in your car, but your CAN NOT race your house!!!

Yes, it ran the frank 3 and loved it to death. right now it's got a 14b on it. i'd love to upgrade to a frank 3 level turbo, but right now the funds aren't available and i want to get this thing ready for spring. i'm trying to get a decent amount of HP whilst not needing to upgrade heavily.
