Good job Spy. You may not be totally happy with the numbers, but gaining those kind of numbers simply by a tune is pretty awesome!

What you doin' up by Chi town??

If you ain't happy with those numbers, you can give me your car. I'll put that happy tail to good use. I can't help but drift around every corner when it's slippery out. If it's a little wet inside my parking garage I'll try to break the truck loose... ph34r.gif But I digress...

Way to go with gettin' some numbers and a better tune. That torque ought to be nice when getting exiting a corner at your track day. Perfect for overtaking. biggthumpup.gif

New Lenox...huh that's about 10min from where I grew up. Might have to check it out next time I'm at my parents.

Spy, I was checking out my new Jeg's Catalog and found that your numbers are pretty good when compared to GM's ZZ383 crate engine! Here's the specs:

9.6:1 Compression ratio w/ Hypereutectic flat top pistons
'Fast Burn' 62cc Aluminum Heads
Hydraulic roller cam (Lift: .509" / .528" and Duration @ .050: 222/230 degrees)

425Crank HP @ 5400RPM (352.8HP at the tire assuming 17% drive train loss)
460ft/lbs at the crank @ 4500RPM (381.8 at the tire assuming 17% drive train loss)

Using 17% vs. 10% makes a whole lot of difference and I could be wrong using 17. I always heard 17% was the average figure to use for two wheel drive vehicles.

If this is true, then your engine set-up is doing better than GM's claims for their own 383. Plus I'm sure that you can pick up more top end with a different cam.

If anything, it goes to show how potent the 4g63's are, period.

You know. I was thinking the same thing. Which is wierd because I already know it, but since I've been driving the 6.0 liter truck and starting to build the drag mustang, I must have began to slip.

That 383 powered TA no slouch by ANY means. Don't forget the power you are putting down is the kind that has spawned stories of HP superiority for years, prior to the infamous Spy stories even.

First of all this is a car discussion about one of our members/friends cars... so that's ok.

Second it's a discussion about an alternative platform which is usually a competitor of the DSM. It's good to know your competition.

Third this discussion has encompassed many comparisons between this version of a modified LT1 vs. known 4G63 power levels.

I think this is a perfect topic.
Then again I've become more lax on my moderating in the past year or two as well, and I think that it's better with the current group of active members that we have these days.
