After getting everything back together from the head replacement last weekend and "band-aiding" the valve cover, I tried to fire the POS up. No dice. Lot of chugging like it wanted to start, but just didn't have the nuts to do it. Spy came over and helped me get it pull started, and man, did it sound like crap!! Not running on more than 2 or 3 cylinders. Compression test revealed that it may be only one. 1,2 and 3 all read 0, and I got a whoping 90 psi out of 4. Great! mad.gif As far as I can tell, I have the timing set right but I need someone to double check me.

Anybody gonna be out this way anytime this week that could stop and check me?

I want to rule that out before I settle on the bent valve theory. (We can't win for loosing, can we Travis!! biggrin.gif ) Guess I'll either have to take a hit on the car, or fix it right before I get rid of it, or just beat the bitch into shape and keep her.... Aaaaaaaaagggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! The frustration!!

BTW- I want to extend a big THANK YOU to Travis for letting me borrow this cylinder head. Even if it is bad, he bent over backwards to get it here by last weekend so I could make a shot at getting it out to the farm party. Oh well... the best plans...

Sorry Rob, I was afraid of that when I spun the cam gears like you mentioned and it didn't look like they were closing all the way at 'rest' (not sure what the word is for that but I tried to explain it all in the note I left attached to the head when I dropped it off)

I'm thinking the thank-you isn't so much in order if that head is shot blink.gif

Just makes me glad I wouldn't take money on it otherwise I'd feel even worse. We're not having the best of track record on heads here are we?

Well, my vote is on the subtly bent valves but I'd be happy to be wrong.

Don't worry Travis. I knew I was taking a chance. I'm just really frustrated. This Project POS started way back in January, and I've only gotten to drive a car for 3-4 weeks. Someone else will be fixing it this time, just not sure who. I've wasted too much time on it already.

New guy to the group, but POS I feel ya. I bought my project back in May of last year. Since then I've bought three turbos, a clutch, flywheel, 2axles, new engine, new belts, wires, etc. Total I've put 800 miles on it in over a year. But I guess that will help the resale LOL. Dont get down though now that I have it fixed and running great, I wouldn't change a thing. (except for maybe all the trouble). Good luck!
