So what are everyones plans for the 4th and the weekend in general?

I'm sure fireworks are in the plans for us, but otherwise my plans are up in the air.

We were going to go to Eureka and hang out with friends and family to watch the fireworks and have a picnic... But Bowen has Scarlet Fever so I don't think we're going to do that now. Mike is going to stop on the way home and pick up some sparklers for him and we may go sit on the side of the road and watch the fireworks from inside the van.... it all just depends on how tired bubba is sad.gif

I hope you all have a fun and safe 4th smile.gif biggthumpup.gif

Going on a cruise with a group of friends, then my dad and a friend of his are having a cook-off which is going to be awesome, then fireworks and possibly other stuff thrown in there.

Last night was serving sno-cones at the Glen Oak Park fireworks, today's yardwork and BS with company tonight for dinner. Then, tomorrow, off to St. Louis for Imo's Pizza, the zoo, Cub/Card game Sunday, home Sunday.

See, not one damn bit of work on the car in there, huh? *Sigh*

Happy Independence Day everyone!

Yardwork today and put up a 13 x 36" pool for the kids and wife.

Heading to Knoxville for the fireworks tonight. Hopefully we get the same spot as last year, 50' from where they launch the big stuff!

Tomorrow...more yardwork sad.gif

Did everyone else have a good 4th?

I found a spot in Washington where I saw Eureka fireworks, Pekin, Morton, and East Peoria/Peoria fireworks.

If anyone saw a black Cavalier LS Sport tonight with a ridiculous loud stereo, that was me. I saw a real nice 2G Eclipse tonight. No badges except for Turbo in the middle of the trunk/hatch.

I went and watched 'Wanted' with Spy instead of fireworks. What an AWESOME show. I thought it would be good for action only, but I was pleasantly surprised and liked the whole movie! biggthumpup.gif

Wow! I can picture you two together.. For some reason i imagine the song "Endless Love" playing in the background.

I actually miss Spy posting.

Anyway, for the 4th i didnt do anything i had planned because we got stuck watching my neice and nephews while my sister and brother in law went to the cardinals game. We cooked out today. I made some butterfly cuts of deer meat, roasted a pork tenderloin, grilled hot dogs for the kids..

The food was good.. We took the kids to watch fireworks and thats about it.

What I did for the 4th:

Flew into St. Louis to see the ole lady. Went to the Cubs-Cards game and had seats 3 rows off the field... facing dead east to see the fireworks, too! Then, during the 7th inning stretch I proposed. It was a good 4th!

Haha... He is a good guy. He is usually one of the only friends I can find to meet-up with at the drop of a hat. That's good for me because my planing ahead is for crap.

Congrats again J!

YAAAAAAAAY J!!! You need to post the story of how you proposed! It was freaking awesome!!

We ended up going and parking behind aldi's in east peoria and taking the bench out of the back of the van and watching the fire works from there. I must admit that I was pretty impressed with the display this year. I think it's the first time we've been to see any fireworks since the lil dude came along. He loved it and kept saying how "awesome" and "cool" they were.

There were a ton of dumbass drivers out afterwards, thank god we only had a little ways to get home.

Thanks everybody! I had her boss in on it, too. We all went out to dinner before the game. We got there and my fiance' didn't sit next to me initially. After the 5th inning, when coming back from the concession stand, her boss jumped ahead of her and made her sit next to me. After an awesome video of Jack Buck singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame (taped during a Cub game a few years back... it was freakin' sweet), I dropped down on one knee and slid the ring on the finger. She was so shocked she was shaking and silent for 20 minutes (a rarity for her to be speechless). I then had to tell her that her ring wasn't the one she was getting.

The actual ring is on its way to Denver. It was supposed to be there before I left but some moron clicked "ground" instead of "Next Day Air." So, I took the ring that displayed the actual diamond I bought and we sized it for her. It's now going to be shipped to St. Louis when it arrives and she can go there for her "upgrade."

Even though we lost Friday, there were fireworks in St. Louis after the game. So, it was a real magical night for us all.

P.S. We won today with a walk off single!!
