I'd agree... I don't know the max on the turbo, but if it's big, then a low 4k, high 3k spool seems reasonable. Plus, once you get the tune figured out, it will likely make the spool more consistent. I remember when I was running way fat my spool took a hit, and when I leaned it back out spool came back in line.

Very interesting. I tell you, it makes me think hard about going to an EBC since it, apparently, can all be logged with EvoScan with the right EBC. The other day I had my son in the car and had him stare at the tach. When I yelled "Now!" he was to quote the RPM at the time. *Laugh* Not exactly scientific.
Eh, but he enjoyed it. -------------------- ... she likes bein' forced ...

Hey! If your kids can't hold attentive, take me.
Seriously though, this build has beena long time coming! Good to hear your 93 tune is coming good! -------------------- If the sound of a DSM in the distance rowing through the gears gives you a hardon, you might be a car enthusiast.

Thanks for the support!
Definitely winding it down. MPG's up from 18 to almost 22. *Laugh* Running her a bit ragged, finally, to thoroughly test. See when that knock might show up in some spot on one log out of two, etc. Now I have to decide on the "next". Front LSD, rear diff TRE rebuild, driveshaft, SS brake lines, center roll bushing kit... But I keep thinking about the 65mm throttle body and ported manifold service from Buschur... -------------------- ... she likes bein' forced ...

93 Octane tune appears done. Here's a comparo w/the Dynoflash tune compliments of DLL (DataLogLab). I can't vouch for the software other than the rave reviews around the web. But it IS comparing old to new, so I can at least take the comparison data, if not the base data, and draw some conclusions:
![]() 20 more hp 200 RPMs later and 25 more torque roughly at the same RPM (true peak torque was 1K later, but looking at the graph she was mighty close at the new peak's RPM) along with roughly 20% better fuel economy? Lots of room under the curves gained... Damn. Money and time well spent, I'm guessing! Now, some day, to get her to a real dyno. *Laugh* Color me happy and looking for open road... Autocross in Champaign this weekend. Hmmm... -------------------- ... she likes bein' forced ...

So I take it that your new tune is represented by the 'benchmark' numbers.
Excellent figures Kazz! Much smoother graph as well. -------------------- In Loving memory of David T Crebo

Yeah - that threw me at first as well. LOL. Perhaps key is the 7K-8K increase - that's where I lost ground at that AMS event at Cordova. Hm. None to advertise. Got my second run around midnight. Someone blew a tranny all the way down the track. Plus the place was packed.
A 2.2 60' yielded a 13.19, I think, but with a trap of 111. The second one proved I should have finished my drivetrain work before taking the car out. *Laugh* The transfer case with its front diff's mashed potatoes, I think. I was lucky to be able to drive it home. All I knew when I launched (this new ROM has a launch control, with fuel cut at 5500, so I just sat there floored waiting for the light, then released the clutch) was that I was getting tire spin. I didn't get far and was still spinning and said screw it and went for second hoping for some hook-up. It was third gear before I was up and gone, and, right at my torque peak, I think, she was reving again. I THINK I felt some slight sideways slip implying my tires might have been spinning. In retrospect, I assume the TC went virtually immediately, and I was all rear wheel drive. That slip in third gear may have been in the drivetrain and not wheelspin. I get a nasty metal knock when turning the wheel and adding gas or lifting (changing momentum of the driveshaft, I guess), and tighter turns invoke a bit of a ratchet type sound. I was damn worried, but didn't have a clue how I was going to get home other than to see if I could get it there myself. The front seemed to hunt a bit on the pavement when up around 70, so I drove her at about 65. Got home a bit before 2:00. Today I find if I hit the gas a little hard the rpms go up but the car doesn't accelerate as much as it should and I hear a bit of a mess up front. Transfer case? Bein' replaced anyway. Axles? Damn, that'd suck, but we'll see. Clutch? I don't really think so, but, again, we'll see. I'm being optimistic but I'll find out later. I'm having Mitsu tear into it and that's where it sits right now. I'm glad this didn't happen at autocross. That would have sucked a bit more. Longer drive and, missing another pass or two is one thing, but missing an event I went to would really suck. Too much powah! LOL! -------------------- ... she likes bein' forced ...

Yeah, T-case or center diff in the transmission would be my guess. Glad you made it home. I've had to make that same trip on three cylinders.

Ahhh patience... *Sigh*
Everyone's shipping by ground, and, since we're in Peoria freaking Illinois, any destination is what, five days away minimum? Anyway, 2-piece driveshaft is in, rebuilt rear diff is done but won't ship until the TRE stage 4 TC is ready, supposedly Tuesday. I decided to send away the TB and intake manifold, since everything had to sit, anyway, and haven't heard anything there yet. The kicker is the new TC. Apparently it's going to require some serious break-in. Low speed driving for 20 minutes, sit an hour. More low-speed driving, let it sit, etc. Slowly working upwards, apparently, trying to ensure everything heats and sets well. Highway miles would heat it up too much and too long, apparently. And, definitely, no hard launches for 2K miles... Ouch. LOL The good news is I should never break another TC! And, that was the goal. I'm looking for another 15hp w/the ported TB and intake manifold with the 14 lbs less rotation mass on the driveshaft helping numbers, too. A shame this is all going to come together just in time for winter. But, I'm going to put dedicated snows on her for this winter so I can be sure and drive her to complete break-ins and, well, to just enjoy! That's all I have for now... -------------------- ... she likes bein' forced ...
