Finally, I got to go 10's

I was pretty accurate when I suspected I 'found' 100rwhp in my car after the last track outing when I discovered the timing wasnt synced correctly between the motor and the ECU

Sine the weather has been awesome lately, Cordova has been hosting some more events, and today me and rizzo made our way up their to see what the car would do.

Once again, just like V-day, I pulled the car directly on to the track making no adjustments. I still dont even know what the tire pressure is......boost was set at 25psi and still running E85. The 2-step was set to 5700

1st pass out of the box I clicked off a 10.4@134mph. I dont know how it happened but I managed to click off a 1.46 60ft time on my radials!

I lost control of myself after looking at the slip, I was yelling all the way back to the pits, im sure some people were like WTF, lol

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKbj13xTaNY

I made a few more passes in the left lane but IMO it has always sucked, and the right lane is the way to go......the 2nd and 3rd passes I just spun pretty bad

The fourth pass I got my 2nd best ever 60ft with a 1.50. I ran the pass out to back my time up within a 10th, running a 10.5 @ 135mph!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbqZqOJRDsI

By the 5th pass I was satisfied with my times and that I had backed it up but I went for it once more, this time spinning the tires to a 1.8 60ft, and running a 10.8 @ 136!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5m1qlX2GcHc

No idea what kind of power its putting down but I'm assuming 650-700 range with traps like that.

I had the nitrous setup for a 100 shot but I was extremely satisfied to go sub 10.5's and the car is still running like a top, I figured best to leave off somewhere to start next year instead of just getting 9's this year smile.gif

This is truly an awesome feeling!

See ya next year fellas biggrin.gif

Incredible jump in ET & MPH Andy. 136MPH is plain sick.

All-be-it an entirely different level of performance I know the elation you speak of. It's the same way I felt when I first hit th 12.6 with my 14b set-up about 5-6 years ago. For a naturally laid back guy I found myself yelling and jumping up and down uncontrollably.

That's truly something to be proud of man. Very few people around hear have gone 10's and I'd say you are in a rare crowd taking a 300Z into the 10's with a Nissan motor, much less an RB26.

Duh. I was in a bit of a stupor. Still damned impressive!

My buddy has a stock 300ZX TT and it's pretty nice. I can't imagine what that 10 sec pass felt like. smile.gif

Andy, I've heard that you are using a Borg-Warner turbo these days, and that it added a lot of meat under the power curve.

Can you give us some specifications such as size comparisons and your review of the difference versus the Garret 42R that you were running?

I've heard that the Hudson's are running a BW and the first DSM in the area that I knew of was Rev-Hard out of the Quad Cities. Still I have no hands on experience with this brand of turbo.

One big reason I went to borg warner....

I wrote them an email about a year ago expressing my interest, gave them some specific details on the car, the rarity of the platform/swap, and provided some videos and dyno sheets. Their lead engineer contacted me a few weeks later asking me what I wanted......in other words, they offered up a full sponsorship (but thats why I contacted them in the first place, I was going to switch to a BW)

My previous GT4202 setup making 555/405 had ~1500rpm of powerband. It hit full boost by 6200 and by the time it made peak power through redline, that was 1500rpm of fun

The first turbo BW sent me was a S360 unit. Twin Scroll T4 flanged, 60mm inducer. At that time, I switched to E85 and we made 530/430 @ 22~psi. A little drop in HP however the lag between shifts was completely gone, and the powerband increased to a whopping 4500rpm. With the 60 I had full boost by 4200rpm and carried out through 8400rpms.

I went out and ran 11.2 @ 125 on that setup. I was satisfied but looking for a little more. The turbo seemed to choke out above 23-24psi, so I requested the next size up and BW sent me the 66mm unit. Still a T4 Twin Scroll flanged (.91 AR) unit. This was a direct drop in (no mods needed to fit in place of the 60mm turbo)

I really did not making any tuning changes, as the AF seemed to stay the same, and I wasnt picking up any issues. The car felt significantly faster. For whatever reason at Vicary Day, the car lost its timing sync between the ECU and the motor. Down about 15 degrees of advanced timing, the car still mustered an 11.1@125

Obivously now that the issue is fixed, she's running quite well. I'd like to get out to the dyno to fine tune it some more and possibly see if I can squeek out some 9's on boost only....

I spoke with daryl at v-day and to my knowledge he has a BW however has yet to do anything with it......

The compressor maps on these turbos are pretty awesome, I would def recommend these turbos to anyone looking

9's on a full weight, stock suspension, pump gas, stock block car..........my lips are already wet biggthumpup.gif
