Just got done with another transmission swap. Car drives, well, like it did when I got it biggrin.gif

That 180k mile tranny from Rob's parts car shifts way better than my original 98k mile tranny I kept having problems with. Its sooo nice not to be grinding third all the time now.

Not to jinx it, but maybe I can actually bring it to the next meeting.

Hmmm... maybe I should have kept that one. Glad to hear that it works good for you!! I figure with 185k on it, if it was going to break, it would have done so by now... good luck!!

I voted option 4. I figured someone had to be the first to come up with the smartass way of looking at things. biggrin.gif

So far so good! Just some minor problems to address, like why the main fan isn't coming on automatically, but works fine if you flip the A/C on. I might need to borrow the pocketlogger from Nate to verify that my engine temp sensor is working.

The variable boost is a little weird, I get about 6psi in first, 8psi in second, and 16psi by the top of third. Guess that's what I get for having a broken and disconnected boost control solenoid. I just have the pressure line hooked directly to the wastegate can. It also seems to be leaning out(slight lean pop) in third over 6,000rpm, time to hot-wire the fuel pump I guess. Could be an ignition problem though.

And it would be nice if the engine quit leaking oil, since the tranny doesn't anymore. But that's just asking for too much smile.gif

Doh, just noticed the radiator fan connects to a thermal switch, that must be what's not working, since the fan relay and the fan work.

What?! Me, a smartass, I think you're thinking of the wrong guy, no one that has ever known me would ever classify me in the smartass column. I must be the only one around here with a decent DSM. The only problem I have had is the clutch, and I can't complain because it was 10 years old, so it was due. That and it could probably be traced back to operater abuse. 8) Now I think I will shut up before I jynx myself.
