Yesterday was my first night at my new job, delivering pizzas for (the most popular local pizza place) in B/N. Overall, it was a pretty boring night considering nothing was going on and it was a pretty slow night for everyone. Halfway through the night I had to make a run to the downtown Bloomington area. By now it's late enough that Main is bare and there is very little traffic. I made the stop pretty quickly and got back on my way to the store. Coming back North on Main I notice a younger guy with what seems to be his girlfriend in a Camaro V6. He seems to be in quite a hurry because I'm doing 40 down Main (30 mph limit) and he's pulling away. I think nothing of it, come to the stoplight at Virginia and I take off because I'm wanting to get back to make another run. He evidently thought that meant I wanted to race. He pulls up, his girlfriend is giving me the staredown and I figure, "what the hell, it should be a good match until he pulls away top end." Remember, I'm in my 2.5 V6 liter FWD autostick heavyass Chrysler Sebring LXi. So we come to the red light just before College and his girlfriend is still giving me the staredown...I just smile back. Light's green, foot to the floor with a little bit of torquesteer and hardly noticeable tire slippage. He immediately gains a half car length, I'm still thinking he's gonna pull on me. Surprisingly, second gear engages and we're side by side. Now his girl is smiling at me and all I can think is "damn this car is surprising me." Second seems to last for an eternity until third. Third slams its way into the scene only to reveal that I am now a half car length ahead and approaching my turn on College at about 80mph. So instead of continuing on, I decide to let the dead dog lie and make my turn. Who woulda thought this short stroke, sorry excuse for a V6 would beat the Camaro? Not me....
"Man even the pizza guy beat you!"

Nothing special, just thought it was quite funny to see a sedan get beat by a "sports" car with about a liter more displacement. (I believe the 95 style Camaro had two V6 options, a 3.4 or 3.6)

I love it!
biggthumpup.gif biggthumpup.gif 2 thumbs up.... way up!

Also reminds me of the old "delivery in 30 minutes or less or it's free" deal one place used to offer. They had to discontinue it due to some speed related issues I believe.

God run. Makes me want to order a pizza biggrin.gif The outcome doesn't really surprise me. I've driven a 3.4 Camaro and a 2.5 Sebring. 160HP, 3480lb (plus passengers) 3.4L Camaro versus the ~170 HP, ~3100lb Sebring, with one fewer passenger. Good thing thing you didn't still have a load of pizzas biggthumpup.gif The 3.4 Camaros weren't much in the way of go-fast. The 200HP 3800 made a huge difference in the base model when it came out in '96.

Ya I think so. I wasn't really paying attention to him though. My focus was on the cute blonde in the passenger seat. wink.gif
