It's a sad day. I am now officially DSM-less. As I type my car is on its way up to Plainfield to be used as a parts car. sad.gif He bought just the car so I still have all of the other parts listed plus a boost gauge.

On a side note I did tell him about the site and he is wanting to join. His name is Terry and he runs an N/A with a tubo kit. He will be sending one of the admins an email asking to join. He seems like a nice guy and is really looking forward to a community like ours that is more mature in nature and shares info and gives good/technical advice.

Well there is a chance that it will be gone this weekend. There is a guy looking for a parts car that is interested in it. I would really rather have it go to someone from here though. So with that being said I will lower the price to $2000.00 for everything.

My ad has not shown up yet in the classified section so I will put a copy of it here until it gets posted then I will delete this post. I want to try to sell it as soon as I can but I wanted to give everybody here a few days to see it first before I put it anywhere else. I hope to "keep it in the family" so to speak in hopes that someone would pick it up that would give her the care that she needs.

I have decided to sell my car. It is a 5 spd 1996 Talon TSI AWD. The bad news is that it is not currently running. It will start and run but there is something wrong with the motor. I though it might have been a broken cam or valve but when I pulled the valve cover the cams were fine. I have not pulled the head to check the valves. Whatever it ends up being, a valve, a piston, or a rod, I'm sure it would be a relatively easy fix for any of you DSM mechanics out there.

When it was running it ran strong. The last time I checked the compression I believe it was 180+ across the board. I will try to check it again soon and see how many cylinders are affected by what is wrong. Along with the engine problem it also sounds like a rear wheel bearing is going out, I cut off one of the rear brake calipers, and it had an erratic idle. The sunroof leaks when in an automatic car wash. It should just need a new seal. Where the passenger side strut mounts under the hood is also rusty but I had a body man look at it and it said it was still structurally sound and would be perfectly fine with some rust converter.

The body is in good condition. The roof has oxidized around the sunroof but the rest of the paint is good minus a couple rock chips in the hood.

Here is what it has:

leather interior
premium Infinity stereo (deck needs replaced)
power sunroof
power locks and windows
power drivers seat
17" 2G Eclipse wheels wrapped in 225/45
6 bolt
mbc
1G intake
14b
2G ex man
2G tb elbow
1G side mount
EPROM ECU
HKS Turbo Timer
boost gauge

If I think of any more I will update. I will also post pics when I get a chance.

As far as the price goes, here is the thing. I have been pretty much out of the scene for a while so I don't really know what things are going for now. I did a quick search on DSM Trader and based on what I saw there for 2G's in similar shape and based on what the car books at stock if it was running (which is 2695) and what has been done, I was thinking $2200.00. If anybody thinks that is too far out of line please let me know.

I also have, but not installed:

550 injectors
walbro 255
EVO FMIC (bought from Kazz)
A/F gauge
3" maf (no translator)
4 additional stock 16" Talon turbo wheels (one is bent and would need fixed to hold air)

I will include all this for and extra 300.00

Again if anybody thinks this is too much let me know. Either here or in a PM.

Here is the only pic I have at the moment. It is an old pic but she still looks pretty much the same when cleaned up.

While reading this I had a couple ideas just off the top of my head. What about setting up a different website as a part of and hosted by this site? Kind of like DSM Source and DSM Trader. If I understand it right you can just register another domain name that will direct you to a specific part of the site so that a person doesn't have to go to the DSMCentral home page to find the link. Basically a site within a site. I would hate to see DSMCentral .com get its name changed and just be a sub forum of a broader site.

As far as a name what about ForcedAWD.com or simply using your screen name? AWD4Kicks.com sounds like a good website to me.

Well I have decided to sell me Talon and the few parts that I have for it. It have mixed feelings about it. I have owned this car for so many years that it almost feels like getting rid of a pet that has become part of the family. A stubborn pain in the ass pet but one that you love it anyway. laugh.gif I will be quite sad when and if it goes but on the flip side I am excited about what that will bring. Instead of saving the money to fix it again and having it nickel and dime me to death (like most DSM's wacko.gif ), I will be saving the money to buy and fix up my daughters 16th b-day present.

She is a big fan of the Camaro. Specifically the new one but luckily she also likes the rest of them too since a 4 year old one (she turns 16 in Jan 2014) would probably still be a little too much for a present. The plan is within the next 1 - 1 1/2 years to be able to pick up a 1st Gen and spend the next year and a half or so fixing it up and modernizing it a bit then drive it myself for a couple of months to make sure all the bugs are worked out then surprise her by giving it to her.

That's the plan anyway. We'll see how it works out.

Well anyway, check out the classified section for my post.

I will not be able to make it. I will be in Elmwood helping to clean up from the tornado that went through tonight and destroyed a bunch of stuff.

It's time to buy another vehicle. Sounds like something in the top half let go. I'm thinking maybe a broken cam or a valve. I will probably start tearing into it this coming weekend to find out for sure what is wrong. I thought about parting it out or just selling it whole and getting rid of it, but for now my decision is to take my time rebuilding it (at least the top half) and maybe having it out again next spring. That may change as I get into it though.

I deleted my photos for some reason.

It's done and running. Well it ran for about .8 of a mile. Drove it down to the gas station and ran out of gas about 400 yards away. So I decide to push it the rest of the way. Wow!!!! Huge mistake!!!! I am so out of shape it ain't funny!!!! So I fill it up and the damn fuel pump burnt up! I towed it home. What a bitch!!

That sounds like the kind of luck I usually have.

Hopefully you didn't bend a wheel!!! lol

Nope, wheels are fine. That is the first thing I checked when I got out lol. The first thing I thought when I hit it and then heard noise is "oh shit the tire blew out and I'm driving on the wheel"

OH COME ON!

Got the car running pretty good after putting fresh gas in it and got the new sticker so I am legal now. I get all excited about being able to drive my car again and that lasted all of about 10 min. After leaving the gas station and the car settling down once the fresh gas worked its way through I went to the bank to pay off a loan and hit a pot hole pulling in and broke the rear left strut. I drove it less than 5 miles before it broke.

I will say it again, I can't seem to catch a f'n break.

I misspoke earlier; The master cylinder is what I replaced last not the slave. I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that.

Anyway, thanks to mitsu90 for giving me a hand in bleeding the clutch. As of 5pm the Talon was mobile. Took it out for a drive around a couple of blocks and everything seemed to be working like it should. Shifting was smooth (although perhaps a little too smooth), acceleration was smooth and steady, and doesn't seem to be suffering any ill effects from sitting out in the elements for so long. Saturday will be more of a test though when I take it out on the road and get some miles on it at highway speeds.

I imagine that a new slave cylinder is going to be needed though. Hopefully it will be able to wait until it gets warmer. Working outside in this weather sucks.

If it's not one f'n thing it's another! mad.gif

I woke up today in a good mood, sat down and figured out my finances for the next couple of months and made a few phone calls to make arrangements for other bills so that they would be paid and caught up within that time frame. Then I heard from someone (patterson353) that they had a set of tires already mounted on wheels that I could use until I got mine. I say great and go get them thinking wow this day just keeps getting better.

I get home and put them on with little problem, considering I was doing it outside on snow covered frozen ground and having to use a scissor jack for the front ones since my hydraulic wouldn't fit under the car where it was. I get them on, hook up the brand new battery I just bought and get in and verify that the battery is charged and that I have power, which I do. I think to myself, as Al Pacino says in Scent of a woman, "you're riding with one very happy man" because I have been on a roll all day with everything going my way. I situated myself in the cockpit to fire the car up, one hand on the steering wheel, one hand on the ignition, place one foot on the brake then............as I put my other foot on the clutch it slams hard on the floorboard as the clutch pedal falls to the floor. BAM. The jolt it sends through my foot and lower leg, along with the sound of hitting the floorboard so hard snaps me back quickly into reality from the fantasy world that I have been in all day. WTF!!!! You have got to be kidding me!

After a few seconds of trying to convince myself that maybe I just missed the clutch pedal and kicking my leg up and down (like a dog that is being scratched on the back) to no avail, I finally realized that is was no use. I get out of the car and look under the dash and I see the pedal. Laying down on the job like an old man that forgot to take his viagra.

The last time I started it a few weeks ago everything was fine. The pedal felt just like it should, but now its just on the floor. I checked the clutch master cylinder and it is dry. How does that happen? The only thing that I can think of is that the last time I pushed the clutch in that maybe a seal or something let loose. The slave cylinder is basically brand new. It has probably only 2K or so on it since it was installed.

I filled up the reservoir and pumped the pedal by hand about 30 times and still nothing. I started the car and let it run for about 20 minutes, thinking/hoping that maybe enough moisture got in there somehow from it sitting for about 8 months that maybe it iced up and would thaw out from the heat of the engine, but no dice. By this time it's dark outside and I give up messing with it before I start getting really mad and decide to jump back into it tomorrow.

Well I may not make it after all. I still don't have tires and that is my only mode of transportation right now. I haven't been able to find any used ones and can't get new ones till my tax refund gets here. Hopefully I get it by Saturday.
