With my recenty deforesting adventure up north, I havent really had the time to visit the roadways and bi-ways of the great green. This weekend changed though. I got out early, far earlier than we all expected and I came across this speed demon.

Traveling at tripple digit speeds, I closed the gap. Listening intently on the exhaust note... Hrmmm. Internally gated, 4g63... Fart pipe check... Excessive richness check... Aftermarket wheels.. check..
Occupied two times, I knew it was on when these crazy kanuks got cheeky.

Sooo.. We slowed down, way down to a 60kph... Three honks.. and it was game time...

I counted it out, one honk at a time and this crazy ass Canadian just glared over... Was he not wanting a race? I no not.. Then I heard it... He was on the throttle... The surge of speed was mind boggling. As this turbo whistled like an angels trumpet, I laid into the gas pedal... It was damn close. Him on boost, I ran through the gears, nearly side by side.. the bird had only a nose.. Gear by gear the the gain was extended, but only by a small amount. Perhaps a half car per gear. Pretty impressive really. After all I was feeling a bit dodgy about my ride, and this cat seems to be a player.

A few more runs like this one, proved that it was close enough, infact, if he was alone, without that 200lb co-pilot, it may very well been a tie.
After talking with the owner for a few moments, its was learned that this car used to belong to several dsm owners over the recent past. Some I recognized, some I didnt. As far as the goods... well, its not a stock turbo car. Its a Big 16g at 20/23psi on the spike. A large front mount IC, lots of parts and a tune in progress...

Id hate to face him once the tune is sorted out, thats for sure.

One final run from first gear, we both made it through a set of twisties, where it goes into a 2 lane, and he swung out hard right... I saw him go for it and I side stepped the clutch, first gear sank the tach into the 7k range, and it just sat there as the ET streets tugged, and tore at the peagravel/tar excuse for a road.. his traction prevailed and he got my by a half car... I slammed second gear as fast as one should, in a t-56 car, and netted that half car back by mid way through the gear... Third gear extended a few more inches.. one would wonder if he leaned it out along the way, for it seemed to be making more power...

Either way.. It was a hell of a run, and just goes to show, how potent an old dsm with an old school turbo can do... not that the bird is anything to write home about, its barely faster than a stock one. Fun none the less.
